    Twotypesofscholarshipsareavailable.Thefirstisanacademicscholarshipforastudentwho
    hasappliedandwilltransfertoafouryearuniversityinfall2011.Thisawardmustbeapplied
    towardeducationalexpenses.Thesecondawardisapartialscholarshiptobeappliedtoward
    thecostofattendingatourofHistoricallyBlackColleges&Universitiessponsoredby
    EducationalStudentTours.ThesixdaytourwilldepartfromLosAngelesInternationalAirport
    onJune26,2011andwillvisitthefollowingcollegesanduniversities:Bennett,ClarkAtlanta,
    Hampton,Howard,Morehouse,NorthCarolinaA&TandSpelman.
    Applicantsmustmeetalleligibilityrequirementsanddeadlinestoqualify.Eligibilityfor
    scholarshipsrequiresthattheapplicantbeastudentcurrentlyparticipatinginanUmoja
    CommunityaffiliatedprogramataCaliforniaCommunityCollege.
    Applicantsmustalsoprovideallofthefollowing:
    1. AcompletedUmojaCommunity2011ScholarshipApplication.
    2. AletterofrecommendationfromyourcollegesUmojaprogramcoordinatororUmoja
    instructor.
    3. Aminimumof12unitscompletedatyourcurrentcommunitycollege.
    4. Officialtranscriptsfromallcollegesattendedverifyingaminimum2.5cumulativegrade
    pointaverage.
    5. Aminimum500wordtypedessaywhichaddresses:a)UmojaCommunityactivitiesthat
    youhaveparticipatedinthispastacademicyearandwhatyouhavelearnedfromyour
    experience;b)whyyoushouldbeselectedasarecipientofanUmojaCommunity
    scholarship.
