PS 158 Auction Title: Untitled (Velvet Revolution) Artist: Norm Baugher Year: 2009 Medium: Gelatin Silver Print
Norman Baugher, while residing in a small town in Texas, began photographing architecture and abstracts in 1977. Due to his passion for adventure and photography, he has since traveled the globe to such diverse locations as the Amazon rainforest, Venice, and most recently, Prague. Norman shot this grand vision of Prague in the early morning of the eve of the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. His images document a sense of presence. Like Ansel Adams, he believes that there are two people in a photograph--the one behind the camera, and the one viewing it. He uses a 6 by 7 camera to create fine art black & white film prints. His mentor, Elliot Landy, documented the music scene which culminated with the 1969 Woodstock Festival, of which he was the official photographer. Norman was instrumental in arranging and contributing to fine photographs for the recent PS 158 auction on NY's upper east side. He resides with his wife and two children in New York City and Woodstock, New York. More of Norman Baugher's work can be seen at http://baugherphotography.com/
