Who doesn't love a good rant? We certainly do, and as usual, Steve Wynn, the CEO of casino company Wynn Resorts, delivered on his company's quarterly conference call today. Via Seeking Alpha, here's the crux of it: I believe in Las Vegas. I think its best days are ahead of it. But I'm afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States. You watch television and see what's going on on this debt ceiling issue. And what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President and nothing's going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress. But everybody is so political, so focused on holding their job for the next year that the discussion in Washington is nauseating. And I'm saying it bluntly, that this administration is the greatest wet blanket to business, and progress and job creation in my lifetime. And I can prove it and I could spend the next 3 hours giving you examples of all of us in this market place that are frightened to death about all the new regulations, our healthcare costs escalate, regulations coming from left and right. A President that seems, that keeps using that word redistribution. Well, my customers and the companies that provide the vitality for the hospitality and restaurant industry, in the United States of America, they are frightened of this administration. And it makes you slow down and not invest your money. Everybody complains about how much money is on the side in America. You bet and until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, it's not going to change. And those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the President. And a lot of people don't want to say that. They'll say, God, don't be attacking Obama. Well, this is Obama's deal and it's Obama that's responsible for this fear in America. The guy keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that don't invest, their holding too much money. We haven't heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybody's afraid of the government and there's no need soft peddling it, it's the truth. It is the truth. And that's true of Democratic businessman and Republican businessman, and I am a Democratic businessman and I support Harry Reid. I support Democrats and Republicans. And I'm telling you that the business community in this company is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until he's gone, everybody's going to be sitting on their thumbs. Later in the call, he rants again about how hard it is to visit America (due to Homeland Security and visa issues), and what that means for Chinese visitors.

Flag as Offensive @SocialismSucks: The lack of leadership by Obama is so appalling that it makes me physically ill, but I guess we should have expected very little of him--- when they had the first bi-partisan conference and he started out the meeting with 'I won". Anybody running a business is scared to death of the new regulations from EPA, OSHA, the Zero Tolerance at Airport but 100% Tolerance at the border for illegals, new Czars and their powers to direct agencies, the decline of the dollar, and OBAMAGEDDON (The Healthcare Act). Thank you Steve Wynn,....will you please run for President?

If I were boss for a day, everyone would pay the same percentage of Federal Income tax. Everyone. If you make $1,000 a year and the tax rate is 20 percent, you owe $200 to Uncle Sam. If you make $100,000 a year and the tax rate is 20 percent, you owe $20,000 to Uncle Sam. None of this class envy stuff. If 28+ percent is good for one, it is good for all. THEN let's see how many people are screaming at the Federal Government for their campaign of spending! Reply

@atomic: Harry Reid in Nevada is MR. PORK. How do you think this land weasle stays in office???? He practically carries home a pig with each visit. Wynn looking at the drastic housing collapse in Vegas, of course, will support anyone who keeps bringing "Money forced out of the American taxpayers pocket " into Vegas to help prop up the their declining tax revenues. Wynn needs workers. He also needs local clients. Both need a place to live. Local jobs make living in Vegas possible. The real skinny here is Wynn knows this credit line is limited. So like any business man who looks 3-10 years down the line is saying what he has to say to survive. Obama has to go or we all are in foreclosure..even Wynn. Reply

There are two types of people in this world, people who believe that life should be fair, just and who act like victims constantly complaining about inequality with their hands out...and then there are people who know, "life isn't fair", and its up to them to work their butts off to get what they want. These people don't sit around complaining about inequality, they don't whine and moan about being disadvantaged...they go out and make life what they want. When are people going to wake up and quit being spoiled little children expecting Big Brother to solve all of their problems? You are techically right though, the article saysing nothing about "health care reform" since the purpose of Obamacare was not to "reform" health care. It won't, the economy will continue down the tubes and all you libs will try to blame Bush. Its over for Obama, he's done! He failed completely and so will his Socialist ideals. Its just going to be a while before we can repair the damage. The rich will stay rich. They are the smart ones. Buy low and sell high, duh! And you can't buy low until the economy tanks. That has been true since mankind invented investing. They see whats going on with this economy and they will wait until it hits rock bottom and they are not in the cross hairs of Government before they jump back in. They are going to buy low, wait for a recovery and sell high. If that doesn't make sense to you then you obviously must be a liberal. Steve Wynn for Prez!.

Even Bush is just as socialist as Obama is because Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and all other social programs existed under both Republican and Democrat presidents. Anyone who specifically points a finger at Obama as being "socialist" is ignorant of the facts that Socialism has existed in America for many decades. There's nothing wrong with Socialist countries because the level of happiness and lifestyle in those countries are far better than here in America as shown in numerous studies and research.

Having 100% Capitalism will only lead this country into becoming a third world country as it is already heading there with the Republican efforts to widen the gap between the rich and the poor by taxing the middle and lower class more and more and shifting the money from those two classes to the wealthy in order to support corporate welfare and gluttony.

Corporations pay no taxes, and the middle and lower classes are expected by the Republicans to send them money so that these corporations can take OUR money to create jobs overseas. This is why these corporations are flush with cash, and you actually think this is better than Socialism???? Reply

But there is a larger lesson to be learned from this horrendous sacrifice to one ideology. That is that no one can be trusted with power. The more power the center has to impose the beliefs of an ideological or religious elite or impose the whims of a dictator, the more likely human lives are to be sacrificed. You need to go back to Media Matters and your favorite newsCOMIC lightweight, Jon Stewart! You are WAY over your head in here, young man! [Summary of the Joint Economic Committee of the Congress, July 20. 1995]: With four years of data on the current economic recovery (extending back to the Bush Administration), it is now possible to tally up the scorecard and compare the Bush/Clinton recovery that started in 1991 with the Reagan recovery that began in 1982. [1] President Clinton has boasted that his policies have spurred economic growth, added jobs, and helped the middle class. However, the data show that the Bush/Clinton recovery is weak compared to the Reagan recovery along several important measures. Both economic growth and job creation in the current recovery lag behind the Reagan recovery by two full years. The middle class is suffering an actual loss in real median family income, while during the Reagan recovery it gained. Moreover, tax revenues increased more rapidly under Reagan's tax cuts than under the Bush/Clinton tax increases. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search? q=cache:DOzGBe691ZgJ:www.house.gov/jec/growth/taxpol/taxpol.htm+regan+economic+growth&cd= 5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a&source=www.google.com Reply

Flag as Offensive I agree with Steve Wynn. I wish he was President instead of what we have. Obama produced a phony Birth Certificate, suspicious SSA #, sealed all of his records, has Eric Holder as AG who would not prosecute the Black Panthers (You can guess why), and much more. America is in trouble. The radical leftists have taken over. Now Obama has Samantha Power, John Holdren, and other radical advising him. Also the media is in Obama's back pocket.
