ABSTRACT
The aim of the project is to design a shopping mall as an alternative to the conventional shopping mall -The Summit being constructed near Kavitha theatre MG Road by PEEVEES PROJECTS PVT. LTD. It is supposed to be one of the largest commercial buildings in Kerala. The total plot area is around 10540sq.m. The proposed site is situated in a highly congested area, surrounded by buildings of nearly 20m height, making it difficult to excavate soil for the construction of the three storey (11m) deep basement to be used as an underground parking, without disturbing the foundations of adjacent buildings. So for the first time in Kerala diaphragm walls were introduced. The project will emphasis on the design of diaphragm wall and its bracings.

METHODOLOGY
The soil data from nearby sites will be collected. The functional planning of the building is done in accordance with National Building Code and Kerala Building Rules and will be drafted using drafting softwares like AutoCAD 2011. The structure will be analysed using StaadPro 2007 and similar packages. Design based on the analysis result will be done manually or using custom built softwares.
