Chapter(2) The Preamble of the Stetement of Ahin Htawaya

It is internationally known that Burma is a country rich in natural resources in the land ar on its surface. However, our people have been suffering from poverty from more than five decades. It has gone from bad to worse. This has been going on from 1962 when the former dictator U Ne Win gave birth to the ghastly military dictatorship up to the present day under the governance of a new power-crazed ruler U Than Shwe.

Our farmers cannot have rice as a regular meal although Burma has abundant supplies of rice. Similarly ,not only the Burmaese peoples but also the whole world know that there are amazingly abundant supplies of natural resources in the land or on its surface: gold, silver, gems, iron, pearl, oil and natural gas.

These are not used by some army officers for the development of the country. Instead, they are expanding the military power unnecessarily to preserve their hold on the power and working for the welfare and prosperity of therir own circle while imposing different types of unlawful rules on the civilised Burmese peoples of all ethnicity . this is like a hell for the Burmese people. It is heartbreaking

Moreover, different types of legislations are made at will so that ancestry homes, farms and plantations could be unlawfully confiscated by force and sold to large companies by the military clique for their own luxury industry. forced labour is used. The Burmese as well at the whole world know that they are violating such human rights practiced by the civilized world.

Despite the turth and the rule of law the word and the term frequently heard from the mouth of the military clique, only unfairness is been seen. By imprisoning and torturing those talking about unfaimess, these jargons were clearly proved by the monks saffron Tevolution on 5 th September to be the untruth and the misrule of law.

While the people are suffering destitute, fuel prices skyrocketed despite the abundant supplies of oil and natural gases in Burma. Consequently, seasonal or provisional labourers and poor work from their homes to earn their living.

Instead of a fall in fuel prices like that, it increased even more. As a result, people in towns and rural areas are upset. So, in order to solve this problem on behalf of disheartening people, patriotic people such as 88 Generation students, Ko Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi< Ma Nilar Thein, Ko Aung Naing, Ko Htay Kyawair, Ko Jimmy and Ko Min Swe bravely demanded the right (not the truth here, translator) I.e . the immediate decrease in fuel prices from the SPDC govemment twice(in 2005and2007) in accordance with the SPDCs truth and rule of law . Because of their act, all these people were arrested and detained by the SPDC govennent which is said to like the truth.

Women martyrs like Ma Mee Mee(b) Ma Thin Thin Aye and Su Su Ngwe together with Ko Bo Bo win and (ABSFU) Kyaw Ko Ko demanded the immediate release of student ldaders because their arrest and detention by the SPDC government which is said to like the truth.
