Imagine a world with no other ethnicity than your own, in the 1940s this was a view that many races, especially Germans, in Europe held as a value. The Holocaust was known as a genocide that killed about six million Jews throughout Europe. At its core, the value of demolishing the Jewish race was a goal from the majority at the present time. This genocide was carried out in many different stages. Starting with the Nuremberg Laws that were rules for Jews to follow daily, forcing Jews in to horrible living conditions in Ghettos or concentration camps, and then finally using extermination methods to kill off the masses of Jews. Ultimately, the process to extinguish the Jews from Nazi occupied territories happened during World

War II. According to the Nazi leader in power, Hitler,

Jewry was imposed on Germans and Jews must be rid of for their society to be any type of a success. This entire operation ended not soon enough to save the majority of Jews doomed to their death, but still gave no solution to where all these Jews could salvage what may be left of their lives. First hand, the Jewish people always shared a countries homeland with other races and ethnicity groups as normality. In the beginning, the Bible even creates the idea for a home land

for Gods chosen people, Jews. Many Jews at the time of freedom from concentration camps were told to leave the vicinity, but had no acceptance to go anywhere. Foremost, the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and the U.S. Department of State recognize a Jewish homeland was something preceded by more than 50 years of efforts to establish a sovereign state as a homeland for Jews (Israel). According to the author Evyatar Friesel, the idea that Israel was created to give survivors of the Holocaust a home takes away from the original Promise Land theory (446-466). The Jews were issued a type of freedom, but most families homes were already newly occupied by German civilians. Even the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum calculates in 1947, the Jewish displaced person population reached approximately 250,000 (Postwar Refugee Crisis and the Est. of the State of Israel). More importantly in the article of Postwar Refugee Crisis and the Establishment of the State of Israel, the Jewish Brigade Group, a unit within the British army in late 1944, worked to help organize the Brihah, an escape, about 250,000 Jewish refugees sailed across closed borders from inside Europe to the coast in an attempt to sail for Palestine (U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum). This shows how a designated area was needed by surviving Jewish descendants. Next, in January 1946, the United States Holocaust Museum declares the U.S. president, Harry Truman, pressured Britain into admitting 100,000 Jewish refugees into Palestine, but the crisis escalated, and the British government decided to submit the problem of Palestine to the United Nations (UN). The U.S. Department of State and Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs reflect Jewish immigration steadily increased, along with violence between Palestine's Jewish and Arab communities. Responsively, the U.S. Department of State concluded, British efforts to restrict this immigration were handled by international support for Jewish national hopes following the nearextermination of European Jewry by the Nazis during World War II. Suggested by the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, this support led to the 1947 UN

partition plan, which would have divided Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem under UN administration. (Israel) Even though the British owned the land of Israel, they put it in the worlds allies best interests of a Jewish homeland. BBC News concludes, The State of Israel is the first Jewish state for nearly 2,000 years, and it was declared at 1600 on May 14th, 1948, after the last British troops withdrew their area (Establishment of Israel). David Ben-Gurion, the chairman of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, announced the formation of the state of Israel, declaring, The Nazi Holocaust, which engulfed millions of Jews in Europe, proved anew the urgency of the reestablishment of the Jewish State, which would solve the problem of Jewish homelessness by opening the gates to all Jews and lifting the Jewish people to equality in the family of nations. (Postwar Refugee Crisis and the Est. of the State of Israel) According to Israels Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The new state of Israel was recognized that night by the United States and three days later by the USSR (Declaration of Est. of State of

Israel). Israels Ministry of Foreign Affairs shows the exact documentation for The Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel called the Fascimile. This document says, THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles (Declaration of Est. of State of Israel). This public document is a example of recognition for a much needed home for Jews who are freed from Germanic rules, but at the same time are outcast from even surrounding countries. According to Manli Ho from the Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies at the University of Minnesota, his family member helped save many Jews from this obstacle: Dr. Feng Shan Ho was one of the first diplomats to save Jews by issuing them visas, he saved thousands of Jews in Nazi occupied Austria in Vienna in 1937 as a Chinese diplomat. Austria had the third largest Jewish community in Europe. One year later Nazis took over Austria and began persecuting Jews. Although they tried to flee, Austrian Jews had nowhere to go because most of the world's nations would not accept Jewish refugees. (Feng Shan Ho: Visas for Life) This transfer of a new homeland did have consequences along with the move. BBC News admits, the Jews were backed by military groups that created massacres toward Palestinians, even kicking them out of their own homes. Pointing out, the day after the state of Israel was declared, five Arab armies from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq immediately

invaded Israel, however, the Israeli army defeated any

Abercrombie forces of that resistance (Establishment of Israel). Even though the Jews could nestle in their new home of Israel, the terrain still showed to be rough for them against non-allies in the next prevailing years. Afterwards, Palestinians were still upset about the establishment of a Jewish homeland being created in their own existing homeland. BBC News emphasizes the Palestinians still refer to May 15th, 1948 as The Catastrophe or al-Nakba in their own words (Establishment of Israel). This concluded to the theory of our homeland is not big enough for the both of us, meaning Palestinian people must fend for themselves or

be kicked to the curb. Jews for Justice in the Middle East claims that Balfour himself wrote in 1919, the contradiction between the letter of the Covenant (the Anglo French Declaration of 1918 promising the Arabs

of the former Ottoman colonies that as a reward for supporting the Allies they could have their

independence). Also stating, of Palestine we do not care to consult the wishes of the present people of that particular country ("The Origin of the Palestine-Israel Conflict). This shows a given reason Palestinian people may feel lied to. In the end, the creation of Israel was designed for a purpose. Although, it happened at a much later date than many Jews may have needed, it was a governed act made for a corrective cause. The British gave this mandated territory over to the lesser promised group. When backed by the United Nations a bigger request could have been what played the winner role for land. This greater decision leaves a few questions at bay. Why did the British truly choose to side with the Jewish people? Why were the tables turned at that time of war when establishing ownership of the country? Tracey Rich, author of Judaism 101,

questions Palestinians biggest area of concern, why was the land promised to Palestinians before hand, and then pursued in to Jewish favor after the establishment of Israel (The Land of Israel). Some questions will always be unanswered, but have faith that the failure of one group of people may bring success to another.
