Reselection Parameters
This section is only applicable to the lab application. These settings can only be changed when call status is Idle . If BCCH Update Page is set to Auto and you change these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, the test set performs a Broadcast Channel (BCCH) Update Procedure (SIB Contents) . If BCCH Update Page is set to Inhibit (the default value) and you change these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, you must force your UE to re-read the BCCH to observe the change (see BCCH Update Page for more details).
l

Sintersearch You can specify whether the S intersearch information element (see 3GPP TS 25.331 10.3.2.3 and 3GPP TS 25.304 5.2.6.1.5) is sent in SIB3 by the test set, and if included, what value is sent. S intersearch controls whether the UE must make measurements of inter-frequency cells while camped. If the quality of the serving cell is above S intersearch , then the UE will not measure other inter-frequency cells while camped. If S intersearch is not present, the UE must make inter-frequency measurements while camped. Note that if the UE does not make measurements on other cells, it will not reselect away from the current cell, even if there is another cell at a higher signal level. See 3GPP TS 25.304 5.2.6.1.1. When Sintersearch is On , it can be set to any even number value between -32 dB and +20 dB, but any negative value will be interpreted by the UE as 0 dB. When Sintersearch is Off , the S intersearch information element is not included in SIB3. Note, the Sintersearch parameter does not affect measurements performed by the UE while on a connection (see UE Reported Measurements ). GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:BCCHannel:SERSearch[:SVALue] .

Sintrasearch You can specify whether the S intrasearch information element (see 3GPP TS 25.331 10.3.2.3 and 3GPP TS 25.304 5.2.6.1.5) is sent in SIB3 by the test set, and if included, what value is sent. S intrasearch controls whether the UE must make measurements of intra-frequency cells while camped. If the quality of the serving cell is above S intrasearch , then the UE will not measure other intra-frequency cells while camped. If S intrasearch is not present, the UE must make intra-frequency measurements while camped. Note that if the UE does not make measurements on other cells, it will not reselect away from the current cell, even if there is another cell at a higher signal level. See 3GPP TS 25.304 5.2.6.1.1. When Sintrasearch is On , it can be set to any even number value between -32 dB and +20 dB, but any

negative value will be interpreted by the UE as 0 dB. When Sintrasearch is Off , the S intrasearch information element is not included in SIB3. Note, the Sintrasearch parameter does not affect measurements performed by the UE while on a connection (see UE Reported Measurements ). GPIB commands: CALL[:CELL]:BCCHannel:SRASearch[:SVALue] .

Quality Measure This parameter sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3, "Cell selection and reselection quality measure" information element. This parameter specifies whether the UE should use CPICH Ec/N0 or CPICH RSCP as the quality measure for determining which cell to choose when performing a cell selection or mobile-initiated cell reselection. Note, this setting does not affect what measurements are reported to the test set by the UE. When Report Measurement Type is set to Intra-frequency or All , the UE will make both CPICH Ec/N0 and CPICH RSCP measurements, regardless of the Quality Measure setting (the Measurement Control message sent by the test set instructs it to do so). GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:QUALity:MEASure .

Hysteresis 1 (Qhyst1) This parameter sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3 "Qhyst1" information element. Qhyst1 specifies the hysteresis value to be used by the UE if Quality Measure is CPICH RSCP. GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:HYSTeresis[1] .

Hysteresis 2 (Qhyst2) This parameter sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3 "Qhyst2" information element. Qhyst2 specifies the hysteresis value to be used by the UE if Quality Measure is CPICH Ec/N0. GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:HYSTeresis2 .

Minimum Required Quality Level (Qqualmin) This parameter sets 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3 "Qqualmin" for FDD in the "Cell selection and re-selection info for SIB11/12" information element (see 25.331 s10.3.2.4). According to 3GPP TS 25.304 s5.2.6.1.4, Qqualmin is the "minimum required quality level in the cell (dB)". If Quality Measure is set to CPICH Ec/N0, the UE compares the CPICH Ec/N0 it measures for the cell with Qqualmin to determine if it may select/reselect to the cell. GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:QUALity:LMINimum .

Minimum Required Rx Level (Qrxlevmin) This parameter sets 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3 "Qrxlevmin" for FDD in the "Cell selection and re-selection info for SIB11/12" information element (see 25.331 s10.3.2.4). According to 3GPP TS 25.304 s5.2.6.1.4, Qrxlevmin is the "minimum required RX level in the cell (dBm)". If Quality Measure is set to CPICH RSCP, the UE compares the CPICH RSCP it measures for the cell with Qrxlevmin to determine if it may select/reselect to the cell. GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:RLMinimum .

Timer (Treselection)

This parameter sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.3 "Treselection" information element. 3GPP TS 25.304 s5.2.6.1.4 states that the UE shall only reselect to a cell if it "is better ranked than the serving cell during a time interval Treselection". GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:RESelection:TIMer .

Access Restriction Parameters

This section is only applicable to the lab application. These settings can only be changed when call status is Idle . If BCCH Update Page is set to Auto and you change these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, the test set performs a Broadcast Channel (BCCH) Update Procedure (SIB Contents) . If BCCH Update Page is set to Inhibit (the default value) and you change these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, you must force your UE to re-read the BCCH to observe the change (see BCCH Update Page for more details). These parameters are sent in the Cell Access Restriction information element on SIB3. See 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.1.
l

Cell Barred State According to 3GPP TS 25.304, a "Barred Cell" is "a cell a UE is not allowed to camp on." A UE is not allowed to camp on a barred cell, not even for emergency calls. If a cell on which a UE is currently camped becomes barred, a cell reselection is triggered. This parameter controls whether the test set is a barred cell. It sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.1 "Cell Barred" information element. GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:AREStriction:BARRed:STATe .

Cell Barred Timer (Tbarred) This parameter sets the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.1 "T barred " information element. T barred specifies the time the UE must wait before considering a barred cell for reselection (see 3GPP TS 25.304 s5.3.1.1). This setting is only applicable when Cell Barred State is set to On . GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:AREStriction:BARRed:TIMer .

Intra-frequency Cell Reselection Indicator This parameter set the 3GPP TS 25.331 s10.3.2.1 "Intra-frequency cell re-selection indicator" information element. According to 3GPP TS 25.304 s5.3.1.1, if a cell is barred, the UE must select another cell as follows: If the "Intra-frequency cell re-selection indicator" IE in Cell Access Restriction IE is set to value "allowed", the UE may select another cell on the same frequency If the "Intra-frequency cell re-selection indicator" IE is set to "not allowed" the UE shall not re-select a cell on the same frequency as the barred cell. During an ongoing emergency call, the Intra-frequency cell re-selection indicator IE" shall be ignored, i.e. even if it is set to "not allowed" the UE may select another intra-frequency cell. This setting is only applicable when Cell Barred State is set to On . GPIB command: CALL[:CELL]:AREStriction:ITAFrequency:CRINdicator .

UE Timer and Constant Parameters

The following settings, with the exception of the T3312 Periodic RA Update Timer and T3312 Periodic RA Update Units settings, can only be changed when call status is Idle . If BCCH Update Page is set to Auto and you change

these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, the test set performs a Broadcast Channel (BCCH) Update Procedure (SIB Contents) . If BCCH Update Page is set to Inhibit (the default value) and you change these settings while your UE is camped to the test set, you must force your UE to re-read the BCCH to observe the change (see BCCH Update Page for more details).
