health and safety / property

Link to Strategic Plan: Goal 1: To focus on high quality learning and teaching and to encourage and support the growth of Tikanga Maori. Goal 2: To maintain and develop a physical environment that is both attractive and functional. Goal 3: To sustain, grow and further encourage whanau and community partnerships within our rural environment (whanaungatanga). Goal 4: To provide an environment that promotes and values health and safety. Goal 5: To engage in regular self review to monitor and evaluate areas. Explanation: Health and Safety is critical to providing a safe, nurturing and encouraging environment for children to learn and staff to teach and feel supported. Curriculum programmes aim to teach children about achieving a healthy, balanced lifestyle while being safe, aware and supported. The Board of Trustees is required to ensure that there is a safe environment. This includes physical and emotional health. Last year we conducted a comprehensive review of our Health and Safety procedures and consulted with our community. This year we aim to consolidate some of our practice and review and revise other areas. Outcomes: - Up to date policy/procedural framework. - Health and Safety issues minimised, eliminated or isolated. - Community consultation. - Maintain an attractive and functional environment.
