S.O.F.I.A (START OUT FRESH INTERVENTION ADVOCATES)


PRESENTS A WALK AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & PRAYER ON THE HILL IN MEMORY OF OUR LOVED ONES

Newark, NJ, 8/4/2011 - On September 10, 2011 at Canterbury Park at Canterbury Drive Montclair, NJ 07042, S.O.F.I.A, a non-prot organization dedicated and committed to providing enhanced services for survivors of domestic violence, will host their rst annual WALK AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & PRAYER ON THE HILL IN MEMORY OF OUR LOVED ONES. This community based event will provide S.O.F.I.A with an opportunity to speak out and raise public awareness about the undying epidemic of violence in our community, according to experienced Certied Domestic Violence Advocate, vocal community champion, and Founder/ Executive Director Cynthia Walker. Proceeds from this event will go towards establishing the S.O.F.I.A Success Center Healing and Wellness Programs for Domestic Violence Victims.

GOALS FOR THE WALK

- To raise awareness about domestic violence - To raise resources to support emergency needs of domestic violence survivors - To expedite the opening of the S.O.F.I.A Success Center Healing and Wellness Programs for Domestic Violence Victims.

- Individual and Team registrations are welcome. - Individual participants will be required to pay a $10 registration fee. - Team Captains who also provide $25 in sponsorships (total of $35) and complete their registration by September 1, 2011 will be eligible for an S.O.F.I.A Domestic Violence T-shirt. Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates (fondly referred to as S.O.F.I.A.) is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides advocacy, supportive services and temporary housing to at risk women and children of domestic violence. Our mission is make each of our domestic violence victim clients become self-sufcient, positive and successful. We are currently in the developmental stages of launching The S.O.F.I.A. Success Center- A Healing and Wellness Center for Domestic Violence Victims were we will offer a variety of workshops to help heal the inner soul.
