Suppose you are starting a research project. You want to prepare thoroughly, and you want it to gain you credibility. The first place to begin, once a topic is determined, is with a survey of the literature. The survey helps you avoid duplicating work already done, and to canvass as many sources as possible. Any research project of any kind needs such a review. Refer to the following checklist as you prepare your reading:
