Update your antidiscrimination favourites!

Successful information campaign in Cyprus The Office of the Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman) of Cyprus organized a campaign that aimed to inform and sensitize both the general public and selected stakeholders on discrimination issues. The campaign helped identify the needs of vulnerable groups and promote good practices in combating discrimination. Among others the following actions were carried out:

Antidiscrimination activities have been moved from DG Employment to the recently created DG Justice on 1st January 2011. Consequently, the antidiscrimination web pages and the 'For Diversity. Against Discrimination' campaign website have been integrated into the new DG Justice portal. Update your favourites to stay up to date and discover our new web pages!

Organising a nationwide media campaign on issues of discrimination which included TV, Radio and Newspaper ads. Publishing a Code of Good Practices on combating discrimination against people with disabilities in the field of employment and occupation. Publishing a booklet which codifies a set of Guiding Principles on how the Media can contribute and assist in combating racism, xenophobia and discrimination. Constructing a website specifically for the antidiscrimination spectrum of the Office's competences and activities (http://www.nodiscrimination.ombuds man.gov.cy/). Organising, in cooperation with a Labour Institute, a training seminar to train union members on antidiscrimination legislation.

Stop Discrimination Newsletter - Summer 2011 is published

The summer 2011 edition of the Stop Discrimination Newsletter focuses on initiatives taken at EU level to improve the situation of Europe's Roma population. It includes interviews with Lvia Jrka, MEP and the Hungarian Minister Zoltn Balog about the new EU Framework for national Roma integration strategies. The newsletter also introduces Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea, the new Director for Equality a DG Justice. You will notice that this new edition has been revamped to fit the look and feel of DG Justice. Synthesis report 2010

The campaign reached a significant part of the population and received mostly favourable comments by the

public and the media.
