1. This mission was notable from the gunnery standpoint 1n that
it t es ted measur es deve loped to meet nose attacks. Due to a leg in the
computer caused by the excessibely high closing rote of enemy fighters
on the nose of the 8 -29. it was decided that future range instead of

(1) Possible rockets were encounter ed shor tly after
bombs away. An unidentif i ed single-engine enemy aircraft f r om 9
ol olook l evel fired 4 proj ectiles Simultaneously. apparently 2 from
under each wing. at about 3000 yards. The projectiles fell short
by about 400 yards without exploding. They went down at that pOint
and 'burned out".
( 2) Shortl y aft er landfall a r ed 'bOoll of fire' WlLS
seen below the f ormation tr avel ing at very high speed. It burst
about 400 yards behind t he observing aircraft without Causi ng dBJII-
age, No trail was seen and it was not observed to have Come from
