TELECOM WOMENS CENTRAL OGANISATION


Telecom Womens Central Organisation (TWCO) is a voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act. Its members consist of the wives and daughters or any female dependent of the officers and staff working in BSNL and other Telecom Offices located in Delhi and women employees. The main objective of the organization is promotion of the welfare of the families of the employees. It organizes a wide variety of activities in the educational, cultural and social spheres. Some of the activities undertaken by this organization include establishment, operation and support to crches for children of working mothers, setting up of tailoring centres, supply of books and stationery to school going children of low paid employees, etc. Telecom Circles of BSNL have similar womens organization knows as Telecom Womens Welfare Organisation (TWWOs). For implementing the programmes of TWCO in Delhi and TWWOs in the Telecom circles, financial assistance is provided by the BSNL Staff Welfare Board and the Circle Welfare Boards respectively. TOP CRECHES TWCO in Delhi and the TWWOs in Circles set up crches for child care in BSNL residential colonies or in offices. TOP TAILORING CENTRES TWCO/TWWOs set up tailoring centres at the BSNL residential colonies for the benefit of the female residents. Financial assistance towards purchase of sewing machines and payment of salary to the Tailoring Instructors are given from the welfare fund. TOP COMPUTER TRAINING As a Welfare measure TWCO/TWWOs have been allowed usage of computer facilities of Telecom Training Centres for training children and spouse of serving BSNL employees subject to the following conditions.

(a) The computers shall be allowed to be used after office hours only and should in no way interfere with the normal activities of the Training Centres. (b) The training classes shall be conducted only by a TTC teaching faculty members of the level of SDE/SO/JTO/JAO or above purely on voluntary basis. Such teaching work performed by the officers will not form part of the official duties of the officers and no honorarium, allowance or relief would be payable by the organization. (c) Children /spouse attending the training class should have passed at least the 10th standard. (d) The scheme may be administered through TWCO/TWWOs. (e) TWCO/TWWO may be allowed to collect a small monthly fee for meeting incidental expenses such as purchase or stationery/course materials, etc. The monthly fee per trainee should not exceed Rs.250/150/100 for wards of Group A, B, C, & D officials respectively. (f) Training shall be limited to the following persons only. Spouce/son/daughter/stepson/stepdaughter/ adopted son/adopted daughter of BSNL employees, who are wholly dependent on them. The above facilities may be withdrawn at any stage without notice if it is found that the scheme is not operated by TWCO/TWWOs as per the above conditions or if it is found not practicable to continue the scheme further.
