CourseObjectives:
To provide principles of analog integrated circuit analysis and design knowledge, which are required in analog IC design industry and research. Contents of the class include large and small signal behavior of MOS transistors, singlestage amplifiers, differential amplifiers, current mirrors, amplifier basics, input offset voltage and feedback, and the introduction to advanced analog circuit blocksdesign.

Homework: There will be 35 homework assignments throughout the semester to assist you in further understanding the class materials. Each homework assignment should be handed in on time. No late submission is allowed. The homework will be graded by TA and the solutions will be posted on class websitetwoweeksafterthesubmission. MidtermExams: Therewillbetwoinclassmidtermexams.Nomakeupexamisallowed.Theexamswillbeclosedbook andnotes.However,alettersizedoublesideformulasheetisallowedintheexam.Calculatorscannot beusedintheprogrammablemodeintheexam.Hereisthetentativescheduleoftheexam: MidtermExam1:InClass,Monday,Oct.10,2011 MidtermExam2:InClass,Monday,Nov.21,2011 FinalProject: One emphasis of this junior/senior level class is to reinforce the independent research ability. The students need finish one project which represents one stateoftheart design issue in modern integrated analog circuits. To accomplish the project, the students need utilize the circuit design and analysistechniquesdiscussedintheclasstoanalyze,simulateanddesignoneanalogcircuit.Hereisthe tentativescheduleandarrangementontheproject: Sept.26:ProjectAnnouncement(around610projectsforselection); Sept.2630:ProjectDiscussion&Selection(Thestudentscantakethistimeperiodtodiscusswiththe lecturerondetailsofeachproject.) 5:00pm,Sept.30:DeadlineofProjectSelection(Thestudentsmustinformthelectureroftheproject topic they select by then). Note: Each project should be completed by a group of 23 students. The projectselectionisonfirstcomefirstservebasis. Nov.28,Nov.30&Dec.5:ProjectPresentationandDemonstration Nov.27:ProjectReportDeadline ThetwohighestscoredprojectshavetheopportunitiesforrealICfabricationforfree.Thestudentsof the two teams will receive full industrystandard trainings on system optimization, layout techniques, packaging and PCB designs.
