July 25, 2011 Dear National Register of Historic Places: In our post-Katrina environment, how fortunate New Orleans

is to have Levees.Org! Thanks to the grassroots groups focus, perseverance and diligence, the truth about the nature of our damage emerged with the Army Corps of Engineers admitting widespread engineering error. Levees.Orgs effort was herculean and the outcome essential to the safety of New Orleanians in this and future generations. But the impact is much broader. By focusing a spotlight on at-risk levees all over the country, the organization has helped raise awareness of a pervasive infrastructure problem that threatens millions with inundation. Levees. Org is absolutely correct in seeking to place on the National Register of Historic Places the breaches at the 17th St. Canal and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (Industrial Canal). The breaches are a symbol to all Americans of the responsibilities of government to its citizens. Recognition on the National Register will serve as a visible reminder of flawed policy and decisions and the untold harm that flowed from them. Thank you for consideration of the groups application for such a prestigious and worthy status. The Women of the Storm, a grassroots civic organization involved in the rebuilding of New Orleans and the region, endorses the Levees.Org proposal. Sincerely, Anne M.
