LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends & Members, While we always feel energized and excited about the start of Fall Session, this September is especially important as it marks the 75th anniversary of Main Line Art Center! How amazing it is to think about our founders, a group of passionate artists, and the vision they had for our community when they first opened the Bryn Mawr Art Center, as it was known then. The Art Center still operates with the same mission set forth by those artists: To inspire and engage artistic creativity for all ages and abilities and to celebrate and strengthen the essential role of visual art in community life. Today Main Line Art Center is truly our communitys Art Center and thrives because of the generations of artists of all ages, levels and abilities who have chosen the white house as their creative home. We know that art is essential for personal balance and enrichment and over the years have been witness to the many ways that lives have been transformed at the Art Center. As much as it is about the art and the process, it is also about connections that are made here. Students and Members develop relationships with others, including their Teaching Artists, that last long after their classes and experiences end. We hope that you and your family will join us in the many celebrations we have planned to commemorate this milestone. Throughout this time there will also be many occasions for you to share and celebrate the ways in which art and the Art Center has impacted your life. In addition to browsing through this catalogue, we encourage you to regularly check our website and Facebook page for updates about all of our events and programs. Finally, I must acknowledge that it is because of the support of our community that the Art Center is thriving today. Our community outreach programs, which have impacted the lives of nearly a thousand adults and children with developmental and physical disabilities, are made possible thanks to the support of people like you. Donations also enable us to subsidize tuition for individuals with financial hardships. Most simply put, tuition alone does not fully cover the cost to keep the Art Center operating. Please consider making a donation today (might we suggest $75 in honor of this special occasion!) to ensure that Main Line Art Center remains a vital part of our community for another 75 years. Warmly,

Ce Ar t lebra for ting Eve 75 r yo ye ne ars ! o

The Art Center was renamed Main Line Art Center in 1993 and today maintains the core values of respect for individual creativity, a belief that everyone has the ability to learn and appreciate art, that art is essential for balance and enrichment, and that art is a catalyst for building community. The vision of Main Line Art Center is to maintain and further enhance its unique culture of creativity in the visual arts. The art program at Main Line Art Center explores traditional art forms while embracing innovative, forwardthinking, and contemporary ideas. Classes and workshops are offered year-round in areas such as painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry making, and printmaking. The Art Center offers up to ten annual exhibitions, including stretch and community exhibitions and seasonal fine crafts shows, that feature the work of established and emerging artists, many of whom are Members, faculty, and students.
