Brent D. Maher is the music director at Gethsemane Episcopal Church where he conducts the choir and frequently performs a variety of sacred classical songs and American spirituals. Mr. Maher also performs annual recitals in Marion and his programs have previously featured 21st century art songs, romantic Lieder, spirituals, and operatic repertoire. He earned a bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from Taylor University, where he studied with Dr. Patricia Robertson. Brent was an active member in Taylors opera theater, singing the Viceroy in La Perichol, Don Alhambra in The Gondoliers, and a variety of characters in scene programs. He also sang with the Taylor University Chorale and the Taylor Sounds chamber ensemble. Brent currently serves as the Director of Assessment and Quality Improvement at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Carole Heller is the organist at Gethsemane Episcopal Church. She received a B.S. Degree in Music Education from the University of Indianapolis, studying piano with Dorothy Munger, pianist for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She received a Masters of Music Degree from Butler University in music education, with piano and French horn as her principal instruments. She began her teaching career in Lawrence Township schools and Center Grove Schools in Indianapolis. She was Director of Music at Brebruf Preparatory School in Indianapolis. She taught choir at Marion High school for one year and then finished out her teaching career at McCulloch Middle School in Marion, teaching orchestra, band and choir for the last seven years. She played French horn in the Indianapolis Civic Orchestra, the Jewish Community Center Orchestra and the Athaneum Turner's Orchestra. She also sang alto in the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and the Louisville Bach Society Choir. Carole currently works at Marion General Hospital and enjoys playing French horn with the Mississinnewa Valley Band. She has two daughters and a son, one granddaughter and one grandson. Her daughter, Stephanie, lives in Marion and the rest in Toledo, Ohio. Carole and her husband, Keith, live in Muncie, Indiana.
