INVESTMENT OFFICER:

British Consulate General Los Angeles Background: UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the United Kingdom Governments international business development agency. UKTI is charged with transatlantic trade development between the US and the UK and with assisting US companies looking to invest in the UK. (See www.ukti.gov.uk). The post advertised is for a Trade & Investment Officer concentrating on Lifesciences (in particular Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices), based in the British Consulate-General Los Angeles, and reporting to the Head of Trade and Investment, Los Angeles. Duties and Responsibilities: Provide assistance to US lifesciences companies looking to set up or expand in the UK and support US companies already active in the UK market to grow; Work with partner organisations and the wider UKTI USA network, to compile visit programmes, plan company meetings and introductions, and produce and manage business development events; Develop and implement marketing programs to build market awareness, identify and develop key sponsorship activities, and attend association events/trade shows to build relationships and generate leads; Establish and manage relationships with senior level business leaders, key association groups, and multiplier organizations; Assist UK based companies to develop their US market entry strategy and support UK companies already active in the US to increase market penetration. Line-manage one Business Development Associate.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience: Educated to at least degree level and experience of working with lifesciences companies;

Minimum of five years relevant work experience and/or business development experience in the US and, ideally, the UK; Excellent research, analysis and report writing skills, particularly the ability to produce high quality outputs; Strong client account management experience; An excellent knowledge of UK and US business environment; The ability to work in a team environment towards shared goals; An understanding of both private and public sector operations; Strong networking skills; A demonstrable track record of achievement; High self-motivation and initiative; Computer literacy in standard Microsoft applications; Driving license and ability to undertake air travel including overnight stays.
