Key and Spare Monitoring System for CoreNet Dept. in PLDT Kawit using Barcode Scanner

Description:

In PLDT, they have these so called i-Cabinets. Inside this cabinets are equipments like NGN (New Generation Network) and switches that supply the subscribers their telephone and DSL connection, each cabinet has its own keys. These keys are monitored by the CoreNet Department in PLDT Kawit (since PLDT Kawit is the mother branch in Cavite). As of now they have a total of 181 keys for 14 different locations in Cavite. In monitoring these keys, they are using a key monitoring sheet, which is written manually. They also have spares for different equipments namely; Interface Unit, Up Converter Unit, Connector Cable, duplexer, Terminating Block, contactor, dsl modem, battery cable, rectifier controller, Test Adapter and many more.These spares are also monitored by the CoreNet Department. They are conducting inventory of these spares every month and because they have a large number of spares, it is hard for them to do inventory since they are still using manual system. This key and spare monitoring system using barcode scanner will solve these problems. This system will provide an easy way of monitoring and doing inventory as well. For key monitoring, this system will provide a key monitoring module that will monitor who borrows the keys and when it is returned. By the use of barcode scanner, it will automatically detect the time and date when it is borrowed and the details of the keys. And for the spare monitoring, the system will provide a spare monitoring module; under this module it will have sub-modules, the spare monitoring module and the inventory of spare module. This system will also provide an account log-in module for security reasons. The proponents will use Visual Basic .Net for the main software and barcode scanner for the hardware devices. The main modules in the system are the key and spare monitoring module. (1)In the key module, it has sub-modules; the first sub-module is the monitoring of keys borrowed and return. The key personnel will ask for an ID from the borrower before they borrow the key. The keys will have a barcode tag that will be scanned when they borrow key. In this module, the employees can also view or search keys. The second sub-module is the report module, in this sub-module they can view and print reports. (2) The second main module is the spare module; in this module it will also have sub-modules namely; the monitoring module of the spares that are sent

out for repair and sent back. You can also view and search spares in this module. Another sub-module is the inventory module, since they have to conduct inventory, thats why this system will provide inventory for checking and editing of spare inventory. Just like in the key module, this module will also have the report module where they can view reports according to duration: daily, weekly, and monthly. This system will also have automatic and manual back-up. It will also have the help module.
