GREETINGS FROM PTE USU!

DEAR FOREIGN STUDENTS! In the name of the University Students Union members I am pleased to welcome you among the students of the PTE University. The city of Pcs has always been a melting pot of different cultures from her foundation during the antique roman era till her present state. Through the ages of history a great variety of different nations settled in our city e.g. south Slavic people, Germans, Hungarians who have been living together peacefully since then. Pcs is also known of her Universitys active and eventful student life, where you can find plenty of student programs and free time activities such as festivals and clubs as well. Last year Pcs was one of the three Cultural Capitals of Europe, which - besides the swarming amount of social functions provided the resources to build a new library that is incomparable in the region, therefore our city is a good choice for scientific work as well. INTRODUCTION OF THE USU

The University Students Unions main function is in cooperation with the Faculty Unions to represent the interests and protect the rights of the PTE students. The USU is harmonizing the work of different student fractions at the senate - that is the highest decision maker council of the university and by this USU creates the opportunity of a unified and strong interest and opinion representation of the students. The organizations duty is to deputize ones interests in such student related cases, which exceeds the faculties sphere of action. The establishments democratic, grassroots conformation provides the possibility for students through their representatives - to express their ideas or their opinions towards the management of the University and the vocational organizations. Beyond this field of work the institution grants the capability for students to express their disagreement in student related issues. Furthermore, USU puts a great emphasis on harmonizing the support and financing of student life activities (such as festivals and other cultural events) and the scientific work as well. From its central budget the USU provides the financial resources for maintaining

the faculty unions and for the organization of the highly popular University festivals in every year. The organizations of interest protection have been the catalysts of the university life through the years. However, their main field of work is the representation of the PTEs students, in any case of problems or questions concerning the university please contact the USU or the Faculty Unions.

From 2004 till 2010 I had been a student at PTE on the Faculty of Law, and I was the member of the Faculty Union as a coordinator of international connections, where I worked with Erasmus students. PROVIDING HELP IN STUDENT RELATED ISSUES

The representing and asserting of students interests on the forums of the university has always been in the focus of PTE USUs work. We believe in the importance of delivering qualitative help in great compass and providing the necessary amount of information regarding the quick an effective settlement of legal relations (e.g. scholarship matters, studies in general) between students and the university or any other legal problems concerning e.g. sublease contracts.
