Of Humanity, Wars and Elections By Akinyi Princess of KOrinda-Yimbo

Germans have voted a new government. The results were out in a matter of hours. War in Afghanistan will carry on until the Hindu Kush is stable. Ditto Iraq, Africa and all those places where wars of the wealthy are fought in proxy. Meanwhile Afghanistan, ordered to adopt the Wests amorphous democracy, even if ballot boxes have to negotiate treacherous mountain passes for weeks on the backs of donkeys, is being accused of vote rigging. How could this occur when the donkeys did their duty, if not for the fact of Afghani corruption, tribalism and dishonesty? And there we have it again the superior we and the backward them. What amazes me is why humankind, of all creation, love organizing enthusiastic and systematic mass killing of their own species. When we were still nobler of heart, we legitimised war as serving to protect the family territory from raiders. Now, with as immense destruction as possible on family territories as well as the environment, the raiders are the legitimate ones. Organized murder by governments in whatever fit of rage, atrocious lies or farfetched dark excuses they pull out, is legitimate in civilised Christian values. The citizenry is whipped up into cheering frenzied lethal crusaders. A Coalition of biblical exceptionality clashes for wicked wealth and abject misery. If anybody believes this is the road to democracy and freedom, they need rewiring in mind and spirit. So do those who come up with words like friendly fire and collateral damages. In The Grand Alliance (1950) Winston Churchill claims, Governments and peoples do not always take rational decisions. Sometimes they take mad decisions, or one set of people get control who compel all others to obey and aid them in folly. Over 50 years later, no lesser person than Madeleine Albright would proclaim: If we have

to use force, it is because we are Americans. We are the indispensable nation. We stand tall. We see further into the future Aha. Im afraid Im not a clairvoyant. But Im positive that I can live without the USA, perhaps even healthier. The only value worth propagating is that of humanity and this can never be achieved through mechanized butchery of fellow humans, especially if the majority of the butchered are innocent civilians.

No war is ever won by anybody. Great Britain won two World Wars and promptly lost its Empire. Cultures differ and so they should, because theyre cultured by different humans. The individualism society is farthest away from humanity than the collectivism society. The West has reduced its moral values (the catch-22 is termed individual freedom) to just about that of the Neanderthals, but living in the age of high technology. They raid other territories for material gain but are surprised at creating schoolchildren who multi-murder in their own classrooms. The children have been moulded by their societies. A mother who shoos her 12-year-old daughter to the doctor for a pills prescription is to me no more progressive than one who gives her child of the same age in an arranged marriage. Fathers who sire children with their own daughters are not going to be moralistic when apprehended, because millions are offered them for their exclusive story/film the minute a lawyer steps into their cells. Women and men who accommodate every sexual fantasy are preprogramming a society with unhealthier and even more mind-boggling aberrations. Human moral values do set a limit that no society should cross, however free it defines itself.
