The Early Years I opened my eyes after a long relaxing sleep.

It has been a month since me and my Expedition 3 crew last saw the blue round Earth. Cruising at 17 000 miles per hour in a black Russian time capsule, Sirius Time Machine Mark IV felt sluggish. The lengthy time travelling journey was draining every crew member out. It seemed like it took forever to reach the Past. 3 billion years seemed to be very far away. While lost in my imagination, suddenly, a strong tremor was felt. In response to that unknown impact, we immediately put on our space suit and fasten the seat belts. Our pilot told us to calm down and there was nothing to worry about. Unfortunately few seconds later, an explosion heard. In a split of second, the ship was spinning out of control as if it was sucked into a whirlpool in middle of space. The impact has knocked me down and sent me to deep unconsciousness. 3 billion years ago: Weather A long dream was disturbed by a splash of cool water. Although it did not touch me, it was definitely sounds refreshing. I opened my eyes again for the second time that day and I was laying on a sandy surface. I tried to bring my head up to check out my surrounding. My attention was immediately caught by a magnificent clear blue ocean spread in front of me. Surprisingly it did not appear as the ocean I remembered as the sky was yellow. Then I turned my head on my back and I was more shocked. The Sirius Time Machine Mark IV was blown apart. I moved my limbs and shook every members of my crew. However no one of Expedition 3 survived the crash except me. I was all alone in an unknown place. Where am I? I whispered to myself. I was scared. While figuring out where am I, I tried to open the helmet I wore. Unexpectedly, I chocked myself. I was unable to breath. Quickly I reinstalled the helmet and pressed the emergency O2 button to increase the O2 supply in my suit. I checked the air content using a mass-spectrometer installed on my suit and found out that the air has amazingly high content of CO2, N2, CH4 and water vapor. Then I realized that the air has poor oxygen content. Apart from that, the heat was astonishingly penetrative. Even though with a well isolated space suit, I was sweating as if I ran around a football field. This place was over exposed to the hazardous Ultra Violet ray. Besides, the Sun appeared to be a lot bigger but 30% dimmer than the Sun I saw on Earth. I was confused. Am I on Venus? The day passed, I was shivering cold. The temperature suddenly drops below 0o Celcius when the Sun left the horizon. The night has never been this cold for me. My suit heating system was not working properly due to the crash. The cold temperature was most probably due to the poor atmosphere formation that was unable to hold the heat to keep the place warm. I walked around the perimeter and suddenly found a hot geyser. The heat was enough to keep me warm for the night. Just before I fell asleep, I suddenly realized that the situation I was in was exactly the weather that had happen before on Earth, 3 billion years ago. From there I knew where I was exactly. Interesting Feature Surviving alone on a hostile environment was never easy. However there were few fascinating scenes or places where we could not found on the future Earth. Knowing that I could return to the future has leaded me to explore the old Earth.

The most unforgettable moment was the sudden chain of volcano eruption that occurs simultaneously without warning. The magma was spilled out as far as 5km in radius and the giant mushroom cloud could be seen from miles away. The tremor followed along with the eruption. At that moment, I was walking across a path of many geysers that expelled a mixture of gases at high temperature periodically. I was frightened by the alarming scream of the volcano. The tremor however has made me became unbalanced. I accidentally stepped on a geyser s source and had my boots stuck the pore. As I was trying to pull it out, the hot stream spilled out and burned half of my suit. The suit was badly damaged and need to be replaced. So I went back to the crash site and looked for any usable suit. After I found replacement part for my suit, I started to feel thirsty. Luckily I saw a cloud of water vapor just nearby the crash sites. The clouds were at low altitude at this Era. I quickly grabbed on a water extraction kit that we brought for the expedition to extract drinking water from the cloud. For the first time, I was able to quench my thirst since the day I reached here. It was so refreshing. While drinking, my eyes wondered around. Not far from my location, I could see sediments were brought down from high ground to shallow marine environment. It was very aspiring because those sediments later on would be the oldest sedimentary rock in the future time where I lived. Suddenly my suit sent me a warning. O2 level critical . It was not really that surprising because I kept an extra oxygen tank with me. I simply took out the old tank and replaced with a new one. Life form Cyanobacteria were very common at this era. This microorganism was responsible to the debut of O2 on the Earth. So I went out to search for this organism equipped with a sophisticated yet portable vision enhancement that enable me to see as small as nano-sized particle. I went to a small sulfuric pond and started to collect few samples of Cyanobacteria. Moreover, I saw many other organisms such as Eukaryotes and Methanogens; organisms that produces methane, swimming inside the pond. There was not many lifeform at this age as oxygen was just making its debut in the atmosphere. However, having a soup of oxygen producing cyanobacteria just might be a good idea to refill my stomach after a long day without food at this strange world. Hopefully a rescue team will be sent before I got fossilized and became the oldest human being in Earth history. Tips of Survival y y y y y y Keeps extra oxygen tanks Stay away from the Sun light Find heat source before night time arrive Keep your center of gravity low when earthquakes or volcano eruption occurred Do not be choosy in term of food. Eat to live! Breed oxygen producer. In case you ran out of oxygen supply.
