MODELS The models of LED light fixtures manufactured by StreetLed are available with a variety of configurations. The table below shows the REAL amount of lumens emitted by the lamps, instead of the nominal amount of lumens of the LED components, as often happens on the specs released by manufacturers. With reference to the light gradation, and in detail to the colour temperature of the LED light ( given as Kelvin degrees K) we can ensure that the four white gradations available feature a CRI (Colour Rendering Index) higher than 65, being so entitled for the down-grading of the luminous class. All the simulations reported below, however, do not take into consideration the above option which, on our opinion, should be widely publicized because of the important improvement offered to the human eyes to perceive details in case of white/blue light conditions, contrary to the yellow/orange ones displayed by HPS lamps. LIFE OF THE PRODUCTS - LEDs

GDS Led Street Lighting is adopting since the year 1999 CREE LEDs. As far as the luminous efficiency is concerned the LED components are selected in the range of 107 to 118 lumens per Watt in case that the lamps are provided with cold light colour (average 6,000K). The technology however is steadily improving therefore the above figures are to be revised time to time accordingly. It is well known that the life and the luminous efficiency of the LED components is affected by the operating temperature. On the following we are reporting the pertinent data supplied by CREE.

The diagram shows that the temperature of the junction between the LED components and the holding IC board is very important for durability and performance of a LED an therefore for a lamp, despite of the temperature of the external environment. GDS Led Street Lighting has put great care about this key issue. The thermal measurements carried out on our fixtures (as shown on the figure below) ensure an operative life of the LEDs in average longer than 140,000 hours when operated at 450 mA (the operative life is an international standard figure, Lm80, which considers the end-of-life of a lamp when its light flux decreases by 30% compared to the initial value). The high performances of our lamps Is due to the accurate selection of printed circuits on which the LEDs are embedded, made with high thermal conductivity aluminium which ensures effective heat dissipation to the aluminium supports as well as to the large dispersion surface of the metallic structure designed for the StreetLed products. The adoption of a set of single arms for a limited number of LED supported optimize the thermal dissipation as well as the optical performance of our lamps. Comparing the dissipation surface of one StreetLed lamp with a

traditional one the first is approximately 70% higher (the surface in contact with air is 90 sqcm for each led in case of a of a StreetLed 60 fixture against 50 sqcm for the LED lamps manufactured with shape similar to those of a traditional lamp).

The image above is a picture shot with a thermal camera which reports the temperatures detected on all the LED supports of a StreetLed lamp in working conditions. The LEDs are driven at 450 mA ( almost 30% higher that the usual driving current for LEDs, i.e. 350 mA). The environment temperature was 20 C. As shown on the image the warmest LED supports exhibited a value of temperature less than 40 C. The corresponding LED junction temperature is 60C which means a useful life higher than140,000 hours. Power supply The electronic boards that embed the LED components are provided with DC to DC converters to transform the 24 VDC voltage of the input to constant current at the output and drive a number of LEDs from 3 to 6. This secondary circuit has been designed to last more than the useful life of the LEDs with a range of efficiency between 92% to 95%. The MTBF of this model of boards is estimated to be 140,000 hours . The main AC to DC converter, which transforms the input voltage from 230 VAC to 24 VDC is designed according to the exclusive resonant technology by ST Microelectronics and features levels of efficiency never met before: 93%. The overall conversion efficiency, which takes into account the efficiency of both circuits is 89%. Up to today this figure is technically in the forefront. Dimmer All the light fixtures of GDS Led Street Lighting are equipped with a dimming module. The dimming module enables to dim the lamps during the night hours automatically. Each single lamp computes the right time to decrease by 50% the luminous flux taking as a reference the time of turn ON and OFF of the

electrical line. This module, mounted on each fixture, is free of charge for the public administrations and ensures definitely higher energy saving rates compared to correspondent devices designed for HPS lamps. 50% light flow reduction by dimming a LED lamp gives as a result 45% saving of energy. The dimming device of each lamp can be used as an interface, in case that a large number of fixtures are turned ON, turned OFF and dimmed by a more sophisticated remote control system. Lenses The StreetLed products have been designed and realized under the basic assumption that the luminous flux of a light source has to be addressed naturally to its target surface in order to maximize the efficiency. The LEDs by their nature are directional. All the LED manufacturers emphasize the intrinsic efficiency of this source of light, that can be set to point its rays toward the direction selected without the aid of mirrors or reflectors. For this reason the products of the StreetLed line are designed to take advantages of the direct illumination combined with the absence of scattering lenses or nano lenses to shift the light flux from its natural path. The only lenses adopted, on the contrary, are aimed to concentrate the luminous flux to the target surface. The overall luminous efficiency of the StreetLed line is given by a single parameter, i.e. the value of the luminous flux out of the fixture (higher than 81% with respect to the nominal light flux of the LEDs) and by the photometry that shows how the luminous flux is accurately adjustable on the roads surface to be lighted up.

Table for quick comparisons The efficiency between the light fixtures of the StreetLed line and the products of the most known competitors in the market can be evaluated by the comparison of the photometric data released by the manufacturers. In detail the Ledway by RUUD, the Archilede by Guzzini and the Ledway 54 by AEC. The table below shows the comparison data of three light fixtures with similar number of LEDs and similar power consumption. The photometric data are available on the web site of the manufacturers while the photometry of the GDS Led Street Lighting comes directly from the IMQ testing laboratories. As you may easily notice the efficiency of the StreetLed line in terms of luminance is higher by a 50% factor with respect to the RUUD products and 16% with respect to the Archilede products (Archilede has adopted a system similar to GDS Led Street lighting to adjust the directionality of the LED components). The Archilede products, however, show evident limits respect to the glaring index and the longitudinal uniformity. The RUUD and AEC fixtures show problems of luminosity, mostly evident when the fixtures are installed at heights over 7 m. StreetLed32 350mA The figure below shows that the utilization of the StreetLed 32 fixture is typical for the M5 class roads, featuring a carriageway width of 6.5 m or less. The diagram reports the relation between the values of luminance and the distance between the posts, considering the height of each post to be 8m. It is possible to install the fixtures at lower heights than 8m. In this case it would be necessary to adopt LEDs with lower luminosity to comply with the range allowed for the glaring index. The StreetLed32 is a cut-off model, i.e. the light is confined within the horizon level (90 deg.) with zero emissions above it. The parameters at the bottom of the simulations are the following: location of the posts on one side only height of the fixtures: 8m type C2 asphalt maintenance factor 0.9 The results show that the StreetLed32 fixtures can apply for all the road classed ME5, with an maximum coverage of 40 m. The ratio between the distance of the posts and their height is 5 (much higher than the minimum value allowed for new installations, i.e. 3.7). In most of the cases the selection of neutral and warm white LEDs , instead of cold light LEDs, allow to comply with the EU regulations. In case that the distance between centres is less than 25 m the StreetLed32 complies with the parameters provided for the ME4a and ME4b classes of roads.

StreetLed32 450mA The StreetLed32 450mA is another version of the 32 LEDs fixture, designed to cover with more margins the requirements of the ME4 roads. It applies better in case that the width of the road is 6.0mto 6.5m. The figure below shows the boundaries of application of this model of lamp. In case that the distance between centres is less than 28m the StreetLed32 450mA performances are well above the minimum requirements of EU regulations for ME4a and ME4b class roads.

StreetLed60 350mA The StreetLed60 350mA has been designed to replace 100W and 150W HPS fixtures. The assumptions at the roots of the lighting technique simulation differ from the ones adopted for the LED fixtures ???? because the high number of LEDs adopted enables to light roads with a wider surface. The values reported on the diagram below refer to a road 7m wide and height of the fixtures on the posts at 9m (excellent results can be achieved also at 8m and 10m). The maximum distance between the centres of the posts for ME4b class roads is 36m, and a rate between the distance of the posts and their height of 4. In case the posts are installed at lesser distance the StreetLed60 350mA can be adopted for ME4a class roads (distance between the centres of the poles less than 32 m) and for the ME3a or ME3b with a distance between the centres of the poles less than 29 m. .

StreetLed60 450mA In case that the roads classed as ME3 require a ratio of 3.7 the StreetLed60 450mA model is the proper fixture. The StreetLed60 450mA model features 60 LEDs powered at 450 mA. The adoption of this model ensures a level of luminance of 1 cd/sqm in case that the distance between the centres of the poles and their height is 3.7m. The StreetLed60 450mA can apply in case of ME4 class roads requiring a distance between the centres of the poles of 40m
