U.S. National The White House National Security Council, in conjunction with the Office of Science and Technology Policy, established the Space Policy Coordinating Committee (Space PCC) in 2001 for the purpose of coordinating national space policy matters affecting multiple agencies of the federal government. The Department of Commerce is a key member of the Space PCC, representing the interests of both the commercial space sector and NOAA's civilian space program. The JSpOC integrates various joint space capabilities and focuses them for end users to improve warfighting capabilities. Members of the JSpOC will provide shared situational awareness to commanders as well as troops on the ground. The JSpOC will be responsible for directing, planning and responding to theater commander and user needs and requirements. The JSpOC will fall under the Joint Functional Component Commander for Space and Global Strike, as delegated by U.S. Strategic Command. This responsibility is further delegated to the Commander, Joint Space Operations, which at this time, is also the 14th Air Force commander.
