The example belowd is a simple tutorial to learn SACS.

Cantilever with propertie s W24104, the structure model can be seen below. Perform a UC member detail and mo ment diagram using SACS program! Cantilever beam length = 10ft, the distributed load =10kip/ft 1. CREATE NEW MODEL Interactive Model > Model > Create New Model > OK New Structure > None > OK 2. CREATE JOINT Joint > Add > Absolute > Input (joint Name = 1, x = 0, y = 0, z = 0, fixity = 11 1111) Joint > Add > Relative > Input ( joint name = 2, x = 10, y = 0, z = 0, fixity = leave blank, reference joint = 1) 3. CREATE MEMBER Member > Add > Input (joint 1 = 1, joint 2 = 2, group label = IWF). Note : you c an click the joint to chose joint member. 4. DEFINE SECTION PROPERTIES Property > Member Group > Define (select group IWF) Click button on section label (the blank button near the section label) Select W24104 (on the section list) 5. DEFINE LOAD Load > Member > Click Member > Click Apply Member Load > Input (load condition = DEAD, load ID = DL, load type = distribute d) > Add Member Distributed > Input (load type = force, coordinate system = global, direc tion = z, inital value = -10, distance to beginning = 0, load length = leave bla nk, load ID = DL) Sum of Forces Report > Save 6. SAVE FILE File > Save As > Check List Seastate and Model (to combined between seastate and model) > OK File Name Format for SACS : SACINP.<FILE NAME> (exmp : SACINP.CANTILEVER) Click OK 7. RUN FILE Click Run File Wizard > Choose Statik (to perform statik analysis) > Start Wizar d > Choose SACS Input file (SACINP.CANTILEVER) Click Element Check > Check List Perform Element Check > Choose WSD API 20th

Click Option Postvue > Check List Create Postvue DB > OK Click Run 8. RESULT Click PSVDB to view Postvue (RESULT) To view diagram moment : Member > Moment Diagram > Click on member (you want to check) > Click Apply You can see Shear Diagram and Moment Diagram To view member MAX UC : Display > labeling > Select Member > Check List Max Comb ined You can see Member UC Value (UC = 0.96)
