usic has been astronginfluence andinspirationfor ToddWilliamson inthecreationof hisworks. Itstartedwith thelocalchurch musicinhis childhoodand lateritwouldbe thegreatorchestral andvocalworks thatheenjoyedas hegrewinto manhoodinthe U.S.andEurope.

 TodddidhisundergraduateworkatBelmont UniversityinNashville,Tennessee,wherehewasFine ArtsmajorwithaminorinVocalPerformanceand English.Veryearlyinhislifeherealizedthathecould notisolatevisualartfromothermediaandinfluences inhislife. Usingasabasehewouldcreate paintingsthatallhaveapreparationof bluegessothatgivesforthmorelightthan white.Histechniqueistouseastraight edgeinoilpainttocreatelinesof distinction.Theseequispacedlinescanbe barsformusicorlineswaitingtobefilled withwordsthatwillcommunicatethe universalityofarts.Thenhecomesbackin topullthesoundsfromthecompositions. Thiswasthebodyofworkthatsetthestyle forhisfirstsoloexhibition/performance. Toddwantedtocreatetencanonsbased onhispaintingsthisexhibition;therefore, hewenttoZurich,Switzerlandto collaborateontheprojectwithcomposer andlyristGregWalter,whohad synesthesia,aconditionthatgiveshimthe abilitytoseecolorstranslatingtheseinto specificsoundsortones.Thefinished productionwasreceivedwithgreat acclaim.Youcanexperienceathreeminute sampleat:www.youtube.com/watch? v=QktSzvXFE0. LittledidWilliamsonknowthiswould bealaunchingpadforanintellectual journeythatwouldculminateinstudiesof FineArtsinUCLA,throughoutEurope andAsia. Thisroadtoscholarshipandexhibition continuedin2005asavisitingartistwith theSkopelosFoundationinGreece.While there,Williamsonbecamefamiliarwiththe Greekclassicsinliterature,visualand performingarts.Hispaintingshaveasense ofstilldramaasdotheGrecianartifactsin thegreatmuseumsofAthens. WilliamsonwasalsoinvitedtoboththeAmerican AcademyofRomaandtheScuolaInternazionalediVenezia inVenice,Italyasavisitingartist.FromthePapal illuminatedbookstotheVenetianskies,onecansee thestronginfluenceonhisworks.Hetookthiswealth ofhistoryandclassicismintohisowncontemporary style,andthroughhismarriageofvariousmedia,led himtonumerousgrantsandawards:thePollock KrasnerFoundationGrant:ArtisticTributeAwardCity ofNaples,Italy;CuratorsChoiceAwardSpectrum
