Podcast prizewinners
STUDENTS from Neston High School took
first, second and third prizes in the Cancer
Research UK science podcast competition.
Ten pupils from Year 10 put together their
own short podcasts on health issues such
as banning smoking, cancer and sunbeds.
Natalie Jones, Matty Burton, Alex Rigby,
and Blaithin Settle took first prize for their
investigation into whether under 18s should
be allowed to use sun beds.
A podcast on diet and cancer earned
a second prize for James Smith, Ryan
McCready and Jonathan Howard.
Third prize winners were Hannah Newall,
Natalie Young and Blaithin Settle who
also covered the subject of under 18s and
sunbeds.

The aim is to cut the
number of accidents on
the A540 Chester High
Road.
Earlier this year
Cheshire County
Council Road Safety
Unit designated the
A540 as a “Red Route”
as a result of the high
volume of serious
road crashes in recent
years.
Many of the crashes
are occurring
between Two Mills
and Burton, involving
cars emerging from
junctions.
Recently all homes
in CH64 received a
special leaflet from the
Road Safety Unit and
their mobile display
has visited Gordale
Nurseries and Neston
Family Fun Day.
Willaston Memorial
