olivera Tevceva is human resources manager at Seavus and shes talking about Seavus human resources management strategy, about recruitment techniques, trainings and motivation tools for Seavus employees

Whats the basis of Seavus strategy for Human Resources Management? our hr strategy emerges from companys corporate strategy and its strategic plan. our goal is to provide an effective framework for engagement, development and retention of our people in a fair and competitive environment. Therefore, our strategy is structured around the following key subjects: management and retention of the employees, motivation, organizational development, equal opportunities, per for mance evaluation, knowledge upgrading in other words, hr department should be a strategic business partner that will support the development and realization of companys vision and strategy. What your company does to keep the most talented staff and manage them in the best way? everyone is talented. Surely, not all of them are equally talented, but each individual has things in which he/she is good and other that he/she learns. The same thing happens in sport: each team requires different skills. Theres no player that is the best in all of them. in order to win, players should understand their specific role, the role of other players and how all of it should fit together to achieve a mutual goal. At Seavus, we always tend to find out what is the talent of each of our employees, what he/she can do best, but not doing it at the moment. Thats why, above all, were identifying the needs for development of our staff, were conducting special programs for advancement of the employees and management support in order to fulfill the identified priorities. Also, this is very important fact, we have special system for proper positioning of the employees (job matching), which enables us to easily recognize talents and to provide proper positioning of the right people to the right position, all of this based on already proven criteria. Seavus functions in conditions of winning and innovative environment with specially developed mentor program.
evaluation and feedback gathering, also possibilities for separate specialized trainings, access to latest world literature, exchange and upgrade of knowledge, internal and external, stimulation of special development of the employees, e.g. one employee can have different roles programmer, as well as mentor or internal trainer. i would like to add that Seavus is a place where new ideas emerge, and we value the creativity of each individual. Thats why we have created in amidst of our company special creative rooms that are available for all employees. Also, Seavus conducts constant external researches, surveys and analyses based on which we obtain employee satisfaction data from several different aspects. Gathered results are used for further strategic plans on company level. Where should be the focus of the companies in these critical times of economic crisis? Seavus sees the economic crisis as possibility for bigger advantage against its competitors. our people are above all flexible, bold and dynamic, and in these conditions its an advantage and a chance to take over the clients of smaller software companies. Additionally, in the past year, in conditions of recession, Seavus Group has invested in several ways: in the new buildings where the company is situated, we have opened our own canteen, we have invested large capital in a special training program, the center for education and development was opened, and we have expanded our activity in the area of the media Which are the levels that one candidate needs to pass in order to get employment at Seavus? At Seavus we have a special database of Cvs of potential candidates and were continuously upgrading it. The selection process within Seavus is conduc ted according to latest world trends. were starting with pre-selection and filtration of arrived applications, which were comparing to the requirements for the active ads. when most appropriate candidates are selected, they are called at initial interview on which were getting to know them. if the interview shows that the candidate fulfills the requirements, he/ she continues through the selection process by technical testing, as well as tests intended for character profiling of the candidate. After the technical tests, next in line is technical interview, and at the end were making an evaluation of the entire process and general opinion is given on the ways in which the process should continue. There are previously determined criteria for each of these phases. In which extent does Seavus follow the world trends in HR? Seavus, as international company that operates in 6 countries across the world, with more than 500 employees, with 100% growth in the previous years and with international clients which are amongst 500 most renowned brands in the world, naturally functions within the world trends. in order to sustain the conditions of successful and creative working and also to create conditions for bigger growth and development, surely we need to be proactive towards all actual trends in the area of human resources management.
In which extent Seavus em ployees attend seminars, con ferences or trainings and whats their feedback? one of the main activities for attracting, retaining and development of the employees that is conducted by Seavus, is the special training program, which consist of internal and external trainings. in these two separate categories, we include: trainings for new employees, technical and non-technical (soft skill) trainings. Given the fact that one of the main values of our company is continued upgrading and expanding of the knowledge, Seavus organizational structure is set up in a way that enables, in the frames of each separate technology, to have a special person which is an expert in one program language, and that person has responsibility to take care for the growth and development of all the employees working on that technology including continuous following of the world trends and constant trainings. Also, i would like to point one serious investment from Seavus, for the opening of our special training centre SedC, in which, apart from commercial trainings, we are designing special training programs for our employees. on the other hand, noticeable part of our employees are invited to act themselves as trainers or presenters. Which are the ways to motivate your employees and boost their loyalty? Apart from the standard financial rewards and bonuses, Seavus is stimulating its employees through special system for
hr department should be a strategic business partner that will support the development and realization of companys vision and strategy

is very important since this piece of the puzzle actually gives the user the sense that he is monitoring the digital perspective. THE CUSTOM CAMERA vIEW The first step in implementing Ar view is interacting with the camera on the device. however since an on demand screen re-draw is needed, a simple view will not suffice, the view that were interested in is a Surfaceview which is used in conjunction with SurfaceListener instances attached to the camera. in this manner, the view will be in a way aware of the interactions of the camera by sensing the device rotations and angle changes instantly. This component is of interest since after creation, the callback's surfaceCreated() method will be invoked. Generally instances of the device's camera are fetched by calling Camera.open() before running setPreviewdisplay() and handing off an instance of the surface holder. when the surface changes, the developer can tell the camera what the new preview drawing rectangle should look like. There are lots of possibilities, the camera component could be improved by modifying the render engine to draw shapes for the Poi markers and even do some minor image recognition to have a smoother interaction with the user. Generally this is the star point of the application, if you ask the ui team since this is where the interface is built and the user interacts with the application its self. There we a few applications which implemented their own Ar engine, which had very interesting concepts as to how the augmented overlay should look like. There were implementations which imposed some form of 3d surfaces on the camera overlay and
16
others which put their focus on the Poi angles of declination with accordance to the devices sensor output. GETTING THE DIRECTION(S) The second piece of the puzzle is getting directional infor mation from the magnetic compass. one general note is that most of the compasses in the devices tend to freak out when near large metal casings like computers, so testing should be done away from the developer are for positive results. in terms of development, the component of interest are the GPS and the compass components of the framework. So what were interested in is the Locationmanager class of the framework, for the GPS and a SensoreventListener for the angle of the view. using the Locationmanagers getCurrentPosition() method would return the users current GPS position, and while loading the graphics on the screen a background task would run to call the
data source and get the Pois (or Points of interest) which are near the users location so that a smooth load on the screen could be done. in the mean time, using the Sensormanager, we could load the devices inclination and direction which are very impor tant when calculation the Pois location on the screen. This component is very important if we put the ui focus on the device angle and viewport. The sensory input is then used to calculate the viewport angle of view and recalculate the Poi locations, by doing so the user gets a very swift and responsive screen which interacts as the user turns the device in different directions. GETTING THE DATA The last piece of the puzzle is the data source, generally any Ar engine is as good as its data source, since the mayor reason the user bought the Ar application is so that he could benefit
from the data presented on the screen. The source should generally receive parameters like, coordinates, data source types of interest, and minimal and maximal radius of interest, these parameters would tighten the search and retrieve info very fast which is imperative since the user would expect instant feedback from the feedback, even it is widely suggested that data queries are put in a queue so that the user receives a very fast first response and all next Pois could follow the first one, which implies that the first fast response is imperative. PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER The final touch is putting it all together, there is a lot of math involved, when calculating the device inclination and distance from the physical location the device and user are to the Poi marker in the virtual world on the device screen which we will not go into. These calculations are dependant mostly on the device screen, pixel density and orientation. however this part is the one that will make the use love or hate the application. The software should be easily adaptable to fast moving users, meaning it should be very dynamic for both fast re-query of data from its sources as to fast re-draws of the screen for speedy user interaction. This could easily be done, in example by using json or xml based data sources which could be parsed in steps and when the source sends 100 items in response to the query, the parser could respond immediately as an item is being processed, and this way the net work to screen time will be minimal and the user will be happy to see Poi markers popping up on the screen. The whole science of Ar is very vast and still very immature, we are still struggling to put these technologies in a small device which will be in your pocket, however there are lots of real live opportunities for Ar which we still cannot see. There are some interesting concepts where Ar egines render 3d graphics in real live using more complex approaches as doing interactions with the human body which is interesting from a medicinal point of view. other Ar prototypes are built in the automotive industry, where the whole windshield is one huge Ar display and the GPS navigation system shows the direction by literally pointing the way to the desired locaiton. The possibilities are endless, however we are still held down by the technologies which are required for this area to bloom. we are yet to see where this will take us in the future. Till next time

hen you enter a store to buy a product, you talk to the sales person in order to inform them about your needs, so they can provide you with the proper product. now, imagine that the store is your project, and the sales person is your team. Can they deliver results if you dont tell them what you want? when speaking about communication in project management, we dont think about the informal way of communicating - greetings, asking polite questions about the family or complaining about the weather. we have the formal communication in mind, the one that results with information regarding the work and that is goal oriented. even though the basic type is the informal one, the formal communication seeks more effort to be established and maintained properly. why are communication and collaboration important? because they can either make or break the project. Communication influences the performance. when trying to achieve high-performing project team, effective communication is needed to make the desired results reality. without wellestablished channels, no expectations can be made that the project will deliver as planned. Successful project managers have good communications skills which enable them to effectively present the information, listen and act on feedback, and encourage harmony among team members. The project plan is spectrum of information about the project. Good project managers know exactly what infor mation they need to give and what to receive. it is essential for the project that everyone involved knows what is ex pec ted of them - what they have to do, when they have to do it, and what budget and time constraints and quality specification they are working towards. on the other hand, the project manager needs to be informed at every step of the project implementation about the project changes/risks and progress and customer needs. if there are no channels of communications established, there is no way important infor mation to be shared. with so much information around, many project mana-
gers get confused and give up on sharing the info. This is where the tie happens. but, avoiding it is not complicated as it seems. There are some basic rules about communication that the project manager should keep in mind to stay away from confusion and misconception. SHARE INFORMATION IN TIME every project manager wants to be prepared in order to have no surprises when unexpected things happen. So, why not to prepare the project team as well? For example, if an extra task occurs, there is no harm if the project manager informs the team member about the task as soon as it happens. This gives plenty of time to do the proper changes in the plan, present them to the team member, so he/she can prepare him/herself to finish all tasks successfully. GIvING ENOUGH INFORMATION IS GOLDEN RULE being misunderstood might come back and blow the project manager away from his team. Providing the team members with enough information about the project allows them to follow the project managers decisions and leads. This is what is keeping the team and the project manager united. Lack of information of ten causes more problems than the project manager thinks there might be. MESSAGES SHOULD ALWAYS BE MEANINGFUL if messages are poorly presented and not consequent, team members will not perform as the project plan instructs to. And project managers should be able to notice that, since the tasks will be finished insufficiently. Consistency in communication and collaboration shows that the project manager is aware that what its important for the team members to do, its important enough for him/her to support. This gives the team members comfort in the work, knowing they are not left on their own. Plus, it makes easier for team members to communicate when having difficulties in finishing their tasks. The importance to communicate and collaborate in project management can be explained through every-day-life example. imagine you come home. is it normal if you dont talk
to your family and share with them what has happened during the day that made changes in your life? And if you dont ask for their feedback, how would you know if they agree with your decisions, if theyll support you, or maybe have better ideas and advices? during the work day, the project team is the family of the project manager. They spend together more than 8 hours a day. if this doesnt require communication and collaboration, what does? Perfect communication skills are not all it takes to build and maintain understanding within the team. Project manager needs: to be good listener to pay attention to the team members and their needs. That will make them feel more important in the project and will increase the value they give themselves. At the end, it will result in higher motivation to finish their tasks on time, with good results.
are aware that they both provide value to the project and the project team. besides making the project managers job less stressful, they create comfortable atmosphere for team members to ask for help, freely express their ideas, to take responsibility for actions. They help in creating team synergy that stimulates productive and collaborative efforts that will make the completion of projects successful. This way there are nominal chances for misunderstandings, even more, in some cases they are completely eliminated. Teams focus is strongly kept on the project, completing tasks and activities, or any other effort needed for maintaining the project on the right track. other benefit from communication is the fact that it becomes much easier to track the progress of the project, including logging development and forecasting completion dates for each of the various departments that work as separate units. There are no simple projects today, only large-
to ask for feedback from team members getting task progress report is the best way for getting familiar with where the project actually is. when team members report back what is finished, what is not, it gives the project manager opportunity to see whats causing problems in the work of every team member. This way the project manager is able to help team members to overcome every obstacle and difficulty they have in their working. to update the project and the communication plan in other words, project manager needs to be always aler ted regarding the project and project information. Consistency in documentation updates will make the team members to be more likely to take notice and then take ac tion. why so much noise about communication and collaboration in project management? not all project managers
scale projects that are handled by different departments. desired successful project can be ensured when each department feels valued, performs at high level and gives feedback. For this matter the project managers need to listen what they are saying and what is being said to them. in order to simplify the communication in project management, technology has brought many solutions that claim to be the right ones for your project. So how do you pick one that has an affordable price, and still has all features that bring value to your project? TELCOS OF THE FUTURE networks continue to evolve. operators are too complex to react quickly to the market demandthey look for solutions to enable that. Flexibility rather than cost savings is their concern. They are too slow on launching new services on the mar ket. They are looking forward to partner with companies who could make this reality for them. They are in a need for ser vice platforms which will enable them to deliver various ser vices. everyone wants to own the customer. but, mobile operators have the biggest customer base, strongest and perhaps the best relationship with the customer. And until know, no one has taken this position away. operators dont have long-term vision about their future. They dont have clear business case except for lowering the cost of their primary services voice and data. but they dont want to remain solely bit pipes. They started to acknowledge
that they want to provide services, to become service providers. doComo in Japan is the one rare example of carrier of the future. it started offering various services ranging from simultaneous voice translation, providing e-books on subscribers e-reader devices, photos on digital frames, to delivering services for in-car solution and all of that through its own network. Further, we are facing application aware networking. every operator wants a localized app store. Telefonica is launching bluevia, a developer platform that enables developers to utilize Telefonicas various APis including SmS, user profiling and billing APi and deliver apps to subscribers. in return Telefonica gives developers 20% of incoming SmS fees, and 10% of outgoing SmS fees. operators future lies into driving revenue through innovative, personalized offerings and creating and charging successful and manageable service packages. MHEALTH. HEALTHCARE GOES MOBILE. remote health monitoring will radically change medical care and promises to be a lucrative new business line. mobile phones can help treat you medically. The mobile will soon reshape the way healthcare services are delivered. The healthcare sector is undergoing a dramatic change with mobile broadband making electronic medical records, insurance and claims data, scheduling, billing, drug information and other patient management systems easily accessible. nowadays we are starting to see remote patient monitoring systems which measure medical parameters of adult and pediatric patients. Some of the things to be monitored/tracked at home via mobile are: weight, blood sugar, blood pressure, heart rate, physical activity, calories taken, pain level, sleep patterns, cardiac rhythm MOBILE ADvERTISING. SMARTPHONES BECOME THE NEW AD PLATFORM. Context, immediacy and personalization are elements that characterize the mobile advertising which gives advantage over other advertising media. upon these elements advertisers are starting to build their campaigns to get their messages delivered quickly and efficiently. important information needed from operators for the mobile advertising to succeed and to have a targeted marketing campaign is knowledge of customer demographics and psychographics, where they are and what time is there, what device they use

and how they use it. operators still lack providing such metrics to advertisers treating it as sensitive topic to disclose personal information. operators have detailed information about their customers. The challenge is for operators to become the trusted par ty both for advertisers and consumers, who want their privacy and identity to be respected. it is a matter of time when more advertising budgets will go into mobile advertising and allow advertisers to directly access their target consumers. mobile advertising industry is on its way and is starting to grow rapidly. MCOMMERCE. MPAYMENT, MOBILE MONEY AND NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION (NFC). IS IT STILL TOO EARLY, TOO COMPLEX, TOO MANY SECURITY ISSUES? mobile phones are revolutionizing the way world manages money, makes payments and buys things leading to connected mobile commerce. Consumer trust, a regulated bank environment, scalable technology platforms and partnership between players the necessary elements for building global mobile services. The problem is that the mobile operators would like to own that space, so would banks. in order to make the nFC-based mobile payment work, operators have to cooperate with each other and with the financial community. All sides have to agree on what business model to adopt, how to share revenues and how to acquire and retain the customers. The main problem is the privacy and security issue. what happens when user lost his/her phoneand the story continues onwards. There are 2.2 billion banked people in the world and 5 billion mobile phones. The demand is there. So it is the technology. mobile money will change the way we bank and shop.
