SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR, AUGUST 31st, 2011

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of the following report is to show and analyze the results about of a questionnaire that I already took in order to know my teaching perspectives that I have to teach English as a second language with youth people: http://www.teachingperspectives.com/html/tpi_frames.htm. TPI (Teaching Perspectives Inventory) can help you collect your thoughts and summarize your ideas about teaching. It can be useful in examining your own teaching as well as helping clarify the teaching views of other people. It is important to know your personal teaching perspective in order to improve your teaching to help your students in the learning process; as teachers is important to focus on our weaknesses in the direction of development in our society.

Transmission: I am recessive because I got 36, so I have to work

more with this area since a good teaching requires a substantial commitment to the content or subject matter to help m ore my student in the learning process.
Apprenticeship: I got 40 this means that I am dominant in this

area and I like to teach in a process of guiding students into a set of social norms and ways of working. In here students become more competent and the teacher gives more responsibility as they progress from dependent to independent.
Developmental: In this area I got 44 and, this is my strongest

teaching perspective in which the teacher plans and conducts the class from learners point of view and understands how students think and reason about the content.
Nurturing: I am dominant because the result is 38. I like this

part because in here the teacher motivate the students to work hard and they do it without fear or failure and they know that they succeed if they give a good try and that their achievement is product of their effort and ability.

Social reform: I got 43 which mean that I am dominant and effective teaching seeks to change society in substantive ways, the main objective of teaching is the collective rather than the individual.

CONCLUSION The Teaching Perspective Inventory helped me to know some aspects that I did not know about myself. This inventory is really nice because you can realize how your teaching perspectives are and in that way you can improve yourself in order to help your students in the learning process. I like my results because I think that they match with my perspectives in real life; now I will focus on my recessive perspective which is transmission since all of them are really useful in the teaching and learning process.
