Movie Overview
Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner, Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner". He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. As Gardner tries to figure out how to sell them, his wife leaves him; he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.

Different situations in movie & Leanings from them

Situation:-1
Chris Gardner (Will Smith) invests his family's savings in portable bone-density scanners which he tries to demonstrate and sell to doctors.

Mistakes: Chris Gardner had not studied market or requirement of the equipment. Whole money he had invested together. He had not analyzed the market situation so his life falls in trouble.

Situation:-2
As the bone-density scanners machine was expensive most of the doctors refuse to buy the machine.

Learning:Even there was negative response he was not got demoralize. He still was working hard for selling machines and never got angry for the response given by doctors.

Situation: - 3
When he was going for meeting in stock brokerage firm he left his bone-density scanner machine to one stranger lady and also gave 1 dollar as deposit we can say.

Mistakes: The mistake is he should not trust on stranger.

 That girl runs away with the bone-density scanner machine. And as the machine was expensive and as he was suffering with lack of money it cost him much.

Situation:- 4
When he seen puzzle measure which was gift given by Lindas friend for Christopher. When Chris had seen he asked for the details to Linda.

Learning:He had tried for solving the puzzle when he seen. He took interest in new things. Even he doesnt know how to solve but still he tried. And these efforts helped him to impress Mr. Twistle. Even Mr. Twistle said he don believe he can solve this; Chris had tried with confidence and solve it.

Situation:- 5
When Jay Twistle called Chris for an interview for internship he don have pen and paper for writing the details given by him on call.

Learning:Chris was much disorganized and don have required things near to phone. But it is good that even he was tense because Linda left home but still he had talked properly and saw smartness to get pen & paper to write number.

Situation:- 6
When he went for interview in stock brokerage firm he went directly from jail and his dressing was poor. And there was possibility that interviewer will reject him.

Learning:As he entered in interviewer room he started explaining before they ask reasons for his appearance. And he told truth that he got arrested because not paying parking tickets. Even he replied for all true answers and told his quality.

Situation:- 7
Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? Christopher: All right. Christopher Gardner: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you, you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.

Learning: Dont give chance to anyone to figure out finger at you. Try your best in every aspect. If you have dream than protect it, work hard and do efforts to achieve your dream.

Situation:- 8
When he got hit by a car and lost the shoe of 1 leg

Learning:Instead of feeling embarrassing to enter in office with one shoe, He didnt care about

others and concentrated on his work. Situation:- 9

When Chris got green signal from Mr. Ribbon He has to meet him within 20 minutes in Mr. Ribbons office. When Chris was moving for a meeting but Mr. Frakesh asked to park a car.

Learning: Even Chris told that he has to reach to Mr. Robbin within few minutes Mr.

Frakesh told him to park the car but Chris had taken advantage and move with car which can save time to reach at destiny.

And he got parking ticket and even though that car was not own by Chris still

he paid parking ticket we can see honesty of chris.

Situation:- 10
When Chris was going for football game with Mr. Ribbon and Mr. Ribbon asked for his car and his son said we dont have car. Even Chris was gone for football game he tried to talk for the product of Dean witter with Mr. Ribbon.

Learning: Instead of getting angry on his son he had handled the situation other way. Even he had taken opportunity to talk with Mr. Ribbon and as well as made contacts with others also.

Situation:- 11
As Chris had not paid money to Ralph, he had put his luggage outside the room. When Chris came back at night he had seen that land lord had taken the charge of room.

Learning:Even there were no space for spending night and he is having his son with him. Still he had handled the situation and had fun with his son to light the situation.

Lessons from The Pursuit of Happyness

1. You are who you mix with There are studies which determined that your income is the approximate weighted average of all your friends (I cant find the link now but I am sure it exists). Stick with the right people and you will rise with the tide. Stick with the wrong group and you will go under. Will Smith had a big break where he got into the exclusive box stand. There he got to know so many contacts that were much valuable than those that could be found on his cold calling list. 2. 1 decision can make your life difficult or very good Some decisions, like Wills decision to invest in the medical scanner, can make life more difficult than necessary. His decision to jump into stock broking however made his life much better, the point is not to avoid making big decisions in fear of making your life extremely bad, but to make sure that you always have a lifeline. 3. Determination, Motivation and Ambition are the same things They make you take action. Action is the part separating thinker, dreamers from the successful. Set goals and work for them. 4. Money! = Happiness With an income more than 20K, your happiness level does not increase with further increases in income. In this study, it is shown that everyone needs a decent standard of living. But once you attain that, happiness is less definable because it varies from everyone. Varied experiences and being in control of your life generally bring experiences.

5. Persistence is key Although Chris faced many setbacks in the movie, he never stopped trying. His persistence gave him success eventually. 6. Have hunger for success Chris had extreme hunger for success in his life, and it contributed to his persistence. He had lost everything in his life, and it was his hunger to get out of the rut that brought him to his eventual success.
