INTRODUCTION

HCL Technologies Limited was originally incorporated on 12th November, as HCL Overseas Limited. The certificate of commencement of business was received on 10th February, 1992. On July 14, 1994, the name of the Company was changed to HCL Consulting Limited. The Company changed its name to HCL Technologies Limited on 6th October 1999 to better reflect the line of activities of the Company. HCL provides new technology development services to its clients. HCL comnet is also known as HCL Technologies Infrastructure division. It has 9000 employees along with 27 offices across spread 18 countries. The company offers network services, Infrastructure management services in domestic market.

MISSION OF THE COMPANY

1. To develop innovative solution:- It is the main mission of HCL company to provide new and innovative solution to the client. This mission is only can achieve through innovation in technology. 2. To develop devices:- Another objective of the company is developing 80000 critical devices for providing better solution to its client. 3. To meet demand:- It is also an objective of the company. The organization wants to meet growing demand for transformational services in IT sector through better services to its client.

STAGES OF RECRUITMENT

1. Identify and define the recruitment:- The first step of recruitment in HCL is to identify the need of recruitment. It means why recruitment is required and after that define the recruitment for the fulfillment of same need. 2. Attract the potential employees:- The second step of recruitment is attraction of potential employee. This can be done through better employment policy. 3. Select and employ the appropriate people:- The last step is selection of right person for right job. This can be through technical exam of candidate and looking their command in work.

RECRUITMENT METHODS

1. Campus recruitment:- In this method company goes to place people from institutions. Company adopts efficiency test, group discussion and personal interview. For example HCL comes to IIPM campus for recruitment. 2. Press advertisement:- In this method company gives an advertisement in newspaper for related vacancy. Through advertisement candidates apply for the job. 3. Recruitment through placement agency:- Company recruits people from outside through consultancy services. Such consultants take fee for their work. 4. Promotion:- For recruitment company gives promotion to existing employees. 5. Transfer:- Transfer from one office to another is also a method of recruitment. It is done when company need to fill vacancy of any branch.

STAGES OF SELECTION

1. Screening application and resumes:- In this step company checks all application and resumes of applied candidates as per their requirements. 2. Testing and reviewing work sample:- In this step company takes a test like technical skill test for matching the candidates with job. 3. Interviewing the candidate:- company takes personal interview of candidates for checking their command and knowledge level in particular field. 4. Checking reference and background:- Company also checks reference and background for the satisfaction. 5. Making a selection:- After completing above stages company selects appropriate employee for job.

HR FUNCTIONS IN HCL 1. Defining position and related roles:- In this function company tells the position to new employee and his work for the organization. 2. Defining HR policy and guidelines:- This is main function of HR is to define policy of HR and give some guideline to employee. 3. Hiring and recruitment:- Company need to hire and recruit people from inside and outside of the organization. 4. Payroll:- payroll is also main functional area of HR. 5. Employee career management:- HR works for developing career of employees by giving them opportunity. 6. Employees training:- This is main function of HR is to provide training to the new employees in organization. 7. Salary and compensation:- Providing salary and compensation to employees is function of HR. 8. Employee recreation:- Recreation by providing better training to employees. 9. Motivational activities:- Through incentives and innovative techniques of work HR motivates employees.

HR POLICIES 1. Leave policy:- Should be availed with prior notice Total 16 lives in a year. 2. Attendance policy:- Only working days are applicable. 3. Performance appraisal:- An employee can claim reimbursement during July 1 to June 30 of every year.

BUSINESS POLICY OF HCL 1. Employees first customer second:- This policy of HCL is valuable because if employees are not satisfied than company can not survive. 2. Specific statutory compliance:- Shall conduct themselves in a manner that any statutory obligation cast upon them is complied with at all times. If any particular member suffers an exception, the same shall be reported to the appropriate authority immediately so as to find the best option to ensure continued compliance. 3. Tax compliance:- In case of any reported discrepancies encountered, the Company shall reserve the righ to take disciplinary action against the official including the severance of relationship with the Company. 4. General statutory compliance:- All the Directors, Senior Management and other employees of the company shall abide by the applicable corporate, tax, personnel, trade laws, rules, and regulations etc. of the geographies where they are stationed at the given point of time. 5. No work no pay rule:- An official shall avail only duly approved leave. Where the official fails to do so it would be treated as no work-no pay leave unless the reporting authority has approved such absence from work. 6. Protection of company property:- The physical or intellectual assets of the Company shall not be put to personal use. The degree of care expected is the same as that which would have been accorded to ones. 7. Confidential information:- All confidential information shall be protected in accordance with the applicable individual contract obligations with the customer if any and in observance of the guidelines regarding

protection of Confidential Information that may be notified by the company from time to time. 8. Conflict of interest:- Shall not at any time commit an act or cause to commit an act that shall jeopardize the interest of the company as against its competitors. 9. Gifts:- All employees are expected to take the approval of the management before they accept solicit a gift of any kind from the customer, supplier or vendor representative. This would include offers for trips, etc. anywhere in the world. 10. Open door policy:- An open door policy towards all employees shall be maintained. It promotes the culture of a family where access to any member in not restricted.

CONCLUSION The human element of organization is the most critical asset of an organization. In organization the complimentary roles of recruitment come in. we have seen that the various criteria of company for recruitment and selection as per companys requirements. In HCL COMNET the policy is employees first and customer second. We can also say every organization has different strategies for competing and surviving worldwide.
