Upgrading NCC 8000 to NCC Windows

The current version of EntraPass offers the ability to easily convert existing NCC 8000 gateways to NCC Windows gateways. All you need is a registered EntraPass Global Edition v.3.13 (after a migration from v.1 to v.3 or after a new installation.

Requirements
Registered GE V3 EP-ENTRA3 EPROMs to replace KT-200 EP-8002 EPROMs.

Steps for Upgrading NCC 8000 Gateways to NCC Windows Gateways

1. Backup your EntraPass Global v.3 database 2. Close any EntraPass v.3 program (Workstation, Server, etc.) 3. For NCC 8000: Disconnect any external NCC 8000 application from the network but leave the application running (standalone) Disconnect loops from an internal NCC 8000 application then shut down the application itself. Note:

Make sure that the number of serial ports on the NCC Windows computer meets the number of loops on the NCC 8000. For example, if the NCC 8000 was connected to four loops, then four serial ports will be required on the NCC Windows computer. You may need to install a PCI card (such as a Rocket Port) to increase the number of ports on the new computer. Real-time communication of global features such as area and alarm system management requires the use of a VC-485 interface to connect each loop directly to the NCC. NCC 8000 and NCC Windows gateways can coexist in the same system.

To upgrade NCC 8000 gateways:
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Kantech\Server_GE\Bin and double click DosToWindowUpdater.exe application. Login with a valid user name and password.

2. Select the NCC 8000 to be converted convert then click Convert. The Convert button is enabled once you have selected a gateway.

The following window appears at the end of the conversion process.

Once the first NCC 8000 has been converted to NCC Windows , all other legacy gateways can be converted using the exact same method. 3. Start the Server, the Workstation, as well as the NCC Windows gateway application. Verify that the data has been properly converted before proceeding with replacing the KT-200 EP-8002 EPROMs with the EP-ENTRA3 EPROMs. For example, you can verify if all doors or schedules defined in the system are still displayed in the system menus and events. Note : Replacing the EPROMs for all controllers on a loop and connecting the loop to the new NCC Windows gateway will keep system downtime to a minimum. However, no global feature such as alarm system, areas, etc. is available when controllers are in standalone mode.
