Air Force One Pilot Assumed Flight 93 Shot Down As Per President Bushs Order

Was Flight 93 Shot Down by US Fighter Jets on September 11, 2001?

According to Col. Mark Tillman, Air Force One pilot on September 11, 2001, everyone on-board Air Force One thought Flight 93 had been shot down: USA Today 8/29/2011

Air Force One pilot's 9/11 mission: Keep president safe

Bush wanted to return to Washington. Tillman's training, instinct and advice from White House aides was to stay away until the capital had been secured. There were airliners unaccounted for, and terrorists had seized San Francisco-bound United Airlines Flight 93 after takeoff from Newark, N.J., apparently intending to attack the city. Tillman was aware that the president had ordered threatening planes be destroyed. When we got the word that (Flight 93) had gone off radar and had crashed, we all assumed immediately that the fighters had shot it down," Tillman says of Flight 93. "That was the most eerie feeling I'd ever had. We'd killed our own people to save the city of Washington, or wherever they were planning to attack. That was very sickening." It took about half an hour to determine that the passengers, not the Air Force, brought the plane down, Tillman says. Still, Washington was not deemed safe for the president.

Command & Control: The Careful Job of Piloting the President on Sept. 11, 2001
Col. Tillman flew the president to Air Force bases in Louisiana and Nebraska, where the commander in chief addressed the nation and could communicate with military leaders from the ground. As the day wore on and U.S. airspace was closed, the skies were nearly empty. "It was very eerie," Col. Tillman recalls. "No radio calls; the controllers would not even talk with us. "Basically, they were told to just let us do what we wanted to do. We would tell them we were climbing to a certain altitude, and had given them a cardinal direction to where we were headed, but for the most part there was no conversation so no one knew where we were. There were no other aircraft talking except for a couple of military aircraft planes just weren't flying; it was very eerie for the United States of America." As the day neared an end and it came time to take the president home to Washington, D.C., Col. Tillman faced possibly the most stressful part of his journey.

"They were rolling fighters off the major cities to roll in on us to support us as we came across country. As we got closer to Washington, D.C., the concern was had I done everything I was supposed to do, to make sure that when I landed there everything would be safe?" Col. Tillman thought the terrorists could be waiting. "All along, everybody knew I was bringing him home, so my fear was they've done all of this, they know Air Force One is eventually going to come back to Washington, D.C.; they are sitting there, they're waiting for us." The fighter jets stayed with the plane all the way. "That's what the whole military and the United States Air Force is about. To see a fighter roll up on the wing, and salute you, get you right there and protect you as you're coming in -- that capability is tremendous." But, Tillman says, as they approached Andrews Air Force Base, the damaged Pentagon was clearly visible. Bush: I Feared Air Force Had Shot Down Flight 93

President George W. Bush initially believed he may have been responsible for the 9/11 downing of United Flight 93 over Pennsylvania, he acknowledges in a new interview. He had instructed the Air Force to shoot down commercial planes if they did not respond to an order to land after learning of the attacks on New Yorks World Trade Center.

In the case of Flight 93 reasonable, intelligent people can conclude it was shot down. None of the four aircraft that crashed on September 11, 2001 were ever positively identied by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as per standard procedure (SOP), nor was the wreckages of these four aircraft ever collected and reassembled, as per NTSB SOP. This fact alone, the violation of NTSB SOP, should indicate to all Americans that the US government has been lying about the events that took place on September 11, 2001. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent federal agency charged with determining the probable cause of transportation accidents, promoting transportation safety, and assisting victims of transportation accidents and their families. The National Transportation Safety Board was established in 1967 to conduct independent investigations of all civil aviation accidents in the United States and major accidents in the other modes of transportation: OPERATIONS: The history of the accident flight and crewmembers' duties for as many days prior to the crash as appears relevant. STRUCTURES: Documentation of the airframe wreckage and the accident scene, including calculation of impact angles to help determine the plane's pre-impact course and attitude. POWERPLANTS: Examination of engines (and propellers) and engine accessories. SYSTEMS: Study of components of the plane's hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic and associated systems, together with instruments and elements of the flight control system. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL: Reconstruction of the air traffic services given the plane, including acquisition of ATC radar data and transcripts of controller-pilot radio transmissions. WEATHER: Gathering of all pertinent weather data from the National Weather Service, and sometimes from local TV stations, for a broad area around the accident scene. HUMAN PERFORMANCE: Study of crew performance and all before-theaccident factors that might be involved in human error, including fatigue, medication, alcohol. Drugs, medical histories, training, workload, equipment design and work environment. SURVIVAL FACTORS: Documentation of impact forces and injuries, evacuation, community emergency planning and all crash-firerescue efforts.
