School Committee Resolution #462 (2008-2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its sincere sympathy to the family of Attorney Eugene Grant who passed away last week. Mr. Grant was a former Mayor of Medford; Chairperson of the Medford School Committee; and former member of the Medford City Council. Attorney Grant was the husband of Media Department Secretary, Charlotte Grant. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Mr. Grant. XI. Reports Requested
Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its condolences to the Donato Family, on the recent passing of Rosann Donato, former First Lady of Medford. Rosann was the wife of State Representative Paul J. Donato, who was also a former Mayor of Medford; former member of the Medford City Council; and former member of the Medford School Committee. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Mrs. Donato. 2. School Committee Resolution #460 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its condolences to the family of Cynthia Jizmagian, retired Medford Public School Psychologist and Adjustment Counselor. Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee extend its sincere condolences to the family of Kathleen Granara Skerry on her recent passing. Mrs. Skerry was the wife of Attorney David Skerry, who formerly served on the Medford School Committee and Medford City Council;. she was the sister of Attorney John Granara, also a former member of the Medford School Committee and City Council; and sister of Medford Public School Secretary, Nancy Sabataso. Kathleen was a relative of Mayor McGlynn and School Committee Members Brady and Skerry. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Mrs. Skerry. 3. School Committee Resolution #456 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its sympathy to the family of Mary Kelly, former custodian in the Medford Public Schools for many years. School Committee Resolution #445 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its sincere condolences to the family of Richard Bishop, a long-time Medford resident and prominent attorney. Be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Attorney Bishop. 2. School Committee Resolution #446 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee congratulate Domenic Camarra, on being selected "Citizen of the Year" by the Medford Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Camarra is a retired Foreign Language Teacher in the Medford Public Schools and a long-time Medford resident. 3. School Committee Resolution #447 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its condolences to the family of Mrs. Thelma Povey, a Medford resident for over 70 years. Mrs. Povey was active in the North Street Congregational Church since the 1920's; a member of the Mystic Valley Elder Services for many years; and a member of the Human Rights Commission. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Mrs. Povey. 4. School Committee Resolution #448 (2008 2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its sincere sympathy to the family of George Keverian, former Massachusetts Speaker of the Hous (1985-1991). Mr. Keverian was a life-long resident of Everett, and served that community as State Representative for many years. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee observe a moment of silence for Mr. Keverian.

Ms. Granfield served as a former Assistant City Clerk for many years, and was the sister of former MHS Guidance Counselor, Patrick Granfield. Irwin. Judge Irwin was a Medford resident and brother of Bishop Francis Irwin and son of former Medford Mayor Irwin. School Committee Resolution #440 2008-2009, Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Committee extend it sincere sympathy to the family of Anthony Scala, father of Ron Scala, Assistant Principal at the McGlynn Middle School. School Committee Resolution #436 -- (2008-2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee congratulate Medford High School Senior, Philip Galebach, on his impressive victory in the Manhattan Invitational High School Cross Country Competition. This win is the first in MHS history, and placed Philip among the top 30 finalists of all time in Manhattan. Further, be it resolved, that the Committee recognize Philip's Coach, Louis Ruggiero, for his work in the development of this fine athlete and for his overall contributions to MHS Athletics. Coach Ruggiero also led the MHS Girls' Cross Country Team to an undefeated season this year. 3. School Committee Resolution #437 -- (2008-2009), Resolution submitted by the Medford School Committee, Be it resolved, that the Medford School Committee express its sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Albert Cangiano, long-time Medford resident and community dentist. Dr. Cangiano was the brother of the late MHS Assistant Headmaster, Michael Cangiano; brother of former MHS Teacher, Frank Cangiano; and Uncle of Medford Public School Administrative Assistant, Denyce Chiesa.
