ROLES OF ENVIRONMENT, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE TO SHAPE & RESHAPE ATTITUDE

Attitude is defined as mental and neural state of readiness, organized through experience, exerting a directive or dynamic influence upon the individual's response to all objects and situations with which it is related. Attitudes are latent and not directly observable in themselves, but they act to organize or provide direction to actions and behaviors that are observable. Attitude is the way how people perceive the situations in which they find themselves. Our attitudes result from some very complex forces, but they are learned and what is learned can be unlearned and changed. And the basic factors responsible for shaping our attitude can be considered as environment, education and experience and change in these factors leads to reshaped attitude. Environment is an expediential object, but no one experiences the environment as a whole, but rather separate distinct aspects of the environment. Objects such as attitudes toward wildlife, water, air pollution, mass transit and so on can be considered as the sub-object of environment. It is a common sense notion that environmental events can give rise to subjective experiences, but also reverse, that intuition or thinking has an impact on or control behavior, as the saying goes 'matter influences the mind' and the 'mind influences the body'. In short, above sayings simply explain that environmental objects have an impact on the experience of a person and the person is dependent on properties of objects. Also it says that the person himself, through his thinking, is making behavioral choices, to adapt to and change his environment. The industrial and technological revolution of the 18th century could be considered as the landmark of people immigrating and becoming the working force of modern development. Continuous change in the attitude of people and their will to rise and raise the status resulted in 20th century; immigrants arriving from various undeveloped countries gradually changed the structure of thus developed societies, because they were looking to improve the status not of

their own but of their offspring. One of their initiatives was responsible to organize the best education possible for the time being. As generations proceeded, the integration gradually became inevitable, but many social events pointed their individualities. Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character, or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills,

and values from one generation to another. Three main purpose of providing education to kids and youngsters are; first, to develop the intellectual abilities and critical faculties of learners in our schools. Second, the approach is to include the rich variety and diversity in culture, language and mores of our citizenry and third, it should equip learners with the skills to deal with the many challenges of the cycle of life. An education system allows the talent of the nations youth in all its diversity to thrive and flourish. Every teacher is a messenger or a medium through which youngster gets education. The message that a teacher communicates and portrays is acquired formally and informally through systematic study and environmental and socialization processes. To infuse a message to a uniform classroom requires no particular capabilities, while to infuse the same message to a diverse classroom the teacher has to be adequately prepared and experienced. Dealing with all these diversity, with the effective way teacher providing education is able to shape personalities, to eliminate misunderstandings and inequalities in addition to provide knowledge to youngsters so as to become able to deal in the future with the complex issues. They not only provide basic knowledge to youngsters and develop them to be active societys members able to deal with diverse issues that will be confronted in the future, but also to uniformly reshape attitudes, so that the amalgamation in a heterogeneous society will be as smooth as possible. Experience is practical knowledge, skill, or practice derived from direct observation of or participation in events or in a particular activity. Our attitude, behavior, belief, way of living, thinking and things around are the result of past experience of our elders. Depending upon the life they lived, excluding the worse things and including the good things they create our present society and shaped our attitude. Societys youth enrolled in the formal education carries preexisting experience acquired during the preschool period. Such experiences vary depending

on familys social status and the location they used to live. Due to these experiences their behavior ranges. Their response to stimuli does not range only if they originated from socioeconomically different systems, but even if they have been living in different areas of the same country. People from rural or urban regions, of the same country, carry different customs. All these people in order to uniformly respond to the various social stimuli require long times, unless they can be incorporated in an educational system that would be able to reshape their attitudes. The educational system addressed to a culturally diverse class is defined as Multicultural. It aims in eliminating misunderstandings and inequalities occurring in societies where stratification prevails. Multicultural education shares many characteristics with Environmental education. They can be considered as two parts of the same theme of how individuals and institutions can collaborate in building a better, sustainable world. Environmental education basically aimed to prepare future generation in dealing with the serious environmental issues we are confronting. It introduces youngster a new interactive way of learning which helps them to develop positive attitude. Youngsters, as they grow they goes through many different situations, every events that happen, things they see, hear and come to know about has direct impact on their mind, acquiring all those experience their attitude is actually shaped and reshaped.

Attitude is complex phenomena, with no certainty and proof. It differs from person to person, depends upon their individual environment and past. But it is considered that sound environment, quality education and positive experience leads toward positive environment because habit is fortified by external environment. Integrating all these wide range of activities environment, education and experience leads to a better shaped holistic worldview through which the elaboration of environmental issues may better be dealt. Hence, we can conclude as shaping and reshaping our worldview, we inevitably shape and reshape our attitude.
