Water Injection Services

Cost-Effective Method to Help Analyze and Enhance Reservoir Productivity

Water injection has proved to be one of

the most economical methods for reservoir management. The technology can be valuable in helping maintain reservoir pressure, enhancing production of hydrocarbon reserves, and reducing the environmental impact through re-injection of treated and filtered produced water. Halliburton Pipeline and Process Services water injection services, using a temporary water injection system, provides operators with a powerful tool to help in these key activities: Analyzing reservoirs Performing test water floods Determining injection profiles Designing drilling patterns Determining the reservoirs response to water influx before capital is invested in the design and installation of a permanent facility. In addition, the temporary water injection system may result in increased production rates while waiting for design, delivery and installation of a permanent facility. This increased production may offset a major portion of the permanent plant cost.

Pump Options
With one of the worlds largest pumping fleets, Halliburton can combine all the components required to provide reliable, uninterrupted performance. Several types of pumps are available: HT-400 pump Provides the lowest weight to horsepower ratio of any service pump, making it the most utilized well service pump. HQ-2000 pump Includes features such as helical gear reduction technology to ensure a smooth and quiet operation. Additional plungers provide extremely low discharge pulsation and vibration. Multi-stage centrifugal pumps Ideal for projects requiring near-constant, high-volume injection rates at pressures below 5,000 psi. Low maintenance cost and reliable operation bring value to any project.

Why Not Simply Install a Permanent Water Injection Plant in the First Place?
Data acquired from a temporary water injection facility may be used to optimize the design of a permanent installation and reduce the uncertainty involved in estimating the reservoir response to injected water.

Data Acquisition
Halliburtons water injection systems are designed for centralized, remote operations from a single operator control station. With the use of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), we are able to optimize all aspects of the project with a minimum number of on-site personnel. Data acquisition and control devices are located throughout the system to automatically monitor and control all important parameters water quality, flow rates, pump speeds, temperatures, chemical injection, etc. Halliburtons proprietary software not only monitors and controls operations, but it also produces the reports required by reservoir management.

Design factors include the following: Injection pressure and flow rate. These factors determine the number and type of pumps required, taking into account the changes anticipated during operation. For example, noise, deck loadings, fire escape routes, etc. Equipment utilities (diesel, gas and electrical). Halliburtons advanced project modeling system helps ensure that all questions have been answered before equipment arrives on location.

Experience
Halliburtons record of success proves that we have the people, the technology and the equipment to provide uninterrupted water injection for your water flood testing or reservoir pressure maintenance system. For one North Sea customer, Halliburton pumped into several different fields over a period of five years without ever moving the injection equipment. Typical projects last between six months and 30 months. This is generally the time it takes to evaluate reservoir response to injected water, design a permanent injection facility and complete installation. Following are typical Halliburton projects: Kavala, Greece 20,000 bbl/day at 4,200 psi Offshore Denmark 50,000 bbl/day at 3,000 psi Offshore Norway 50,000 bbl/day at 3,000 psi Inland Venezuela 6,000 bbl/day at 5,000 psi

Chemical Dispensing
Controlled chemical injection is vital in a successful water injection project. The Halliburton automated system meters each chemical separately and controls its exact dispensing rate. Typical types of chemical treatment include corrosion inhibitor, biocide, chemical mixture, oxygen scavenger and surfactant.
