than two centuries. Powder coating technology (dry), relatively younger technology introduced in the market since 3 decades & now widely preferred technology in industrial application. Some Highlights of powder coating technology:

The global average annual growth for powder coatings has been approximately 7-9% over the last 10 years. From country to country worldwide these figures have varied considerably. This relatively high performance has been achieved by autonomous growth on the one side and by replacing liquid coatings on the other. The Indian Market size for consuming powder coating is estimated to be around 2.5 lac MT (Metric Tons) of Powder annually, valuing to approx. 4000 Mil INR. Brief idea about powder paint A powder paint is made up of Pigments imparting color, Opacity & other properties, Resin which is considered as a back bone contributing majorly to the durability & weatherability of coating & small proportion of Additives for ease of application. In broader sense it is found that many of the raw materials are Hazardous & not eco friendly, however the selection of raw material also permits a powder paints which can be eco friendly & ROHS compliant coatings. In European and American countries because of stricter environmental legislation the hazardous raw materials are banned hence there are concept of ROHS (Restriction on the use of Hazardous Substance) as mentioned earlier these there are powder paint chemistry which

compiles to ROHS stringent requirement. RoHS in plain word for a coating technology means the formulation should not include any chemicals which are hazardous to human being & environment. As per the global standard there is an acceptance of the green concept gearing up in India market to. Talking about our topic Powder paints the technology which do not complies to green technology is still the prevalent because of its coat advantage. The selection of the project topic is to understand the acceptance & ways to promote the environment friendly & RoHS compliant powder coatings, for all these reasons a research need to be done which requires to have some answer to certain matter & hence it becomes the purpose and objective of this Project.
