1)

BSS10069 Synchronised BSS, BSS11073 Recovery for BSS and Site Synchronisation, BSS20371 Synchronisation Recovery Improvement are not supported for LMU SW 4.1 or 4.3. When LMU SW 4.4 is in use, any equipment using LMU SW 4.1 or 4.3 within the same network must have the synchronisation features disabled.
2) 3) 4)

The latest LMU Software requires the latest LMU Manager Software. If BSC S11.5 is used then LMU multicast SW downloading can not be performed from NetAct

Following problems 10140ES09P, 10335ES09P and 10333ES09P are valid when BTS SW CX4.0-5 or CXM4.0-4 is used. See section 8 LMU Related BTS problems for problem details.

Changes in LMU alarms

For more information on the BTS alarms, see the Nokia Location Measurement Unit User Manuals, Alarm Descriptions and Maintenance /2/.

Alarm 8240 Active alarm point is no longer raised as a result of alarm 8048 Loss of incoming signal. In all other respects, alarms 8240 and 8048 are working as before.

Supported features

BSS10069 Synchronised BSS BSS11073 Recovery for BSS and Site Synchronisation BSS20371 Synchronisation Recovery Improvement

6.1

New features

Availability of COM port numbers increased Alarm 8240 Active alarm point functionality changed to be supporting the BSS 20371 Synchronisation Recovery Improvement feature. See section 5 Changes in LMU alarms for alarm details.

6.2

Existing features (which are not described in LMU 4.0 documentation)

GPS single satellite SW support

LMU is able to feed clock signals with only one satellite in view when GPS fix status is Locked. It is necessary to perform GPS Self Survey or set up LMU GPS antenna position manually to get GPS fix status Locked state.

GPS position Self Survey

LMU is able to perform self-survey within 24 hours when satellite view is more than four acceptable satellites without any interrupt. If the number of satellites drops below four, the self-survey process goes to standby mode and the survey may take more than 24 hours.

Supported features

GPS position can be set manually. Do this only if LMU is not able to perform Self Survey.

Survey progress displayed in LMU manager

Survey progress can be monitored in the LMU manager Installation Status window.

6.3

LMU Manager changes

This section describes LMU manager changes related to survey process.

6.3.1

Setting up LMU for Self Survey

1. Check that Start Self Survey after next reset is chosen. At the end of commissioning reset LMU. Self Survey starts after LMU reset and GPS fix status in Installation Status window is Survey. 2. Check that GPS fix status changes to Locked after minimum 24 hours. Self Survey is completed.

6.3.2

Setting up LMU GPS antenna position manually

1. Check that Use position as surveyed position is chosen. 2. Enter the accurate GPS antenna position and altitude. At the end of commissioning reset LMU (see Note). 3. Check that the entered coordinates and altitude can be seen in the GPS Status window and GPS fix status is Locked.
Note

Measure the position of LMU GPS antenna using high accurate location technology. The maximum allowed error of the coordinates is 1 meter. Refer to the WGS 84 GPS reference ellipsoid for the altitude. LMU performance according to synchronisation requirements is guaranteed only when the maximum allowed error of coordinates is not exceeded.

6.3.3

Self Survey progress monitoring

Self Survey progress can be monitored with LMU manager. Installations Status window provides information on GPS fix modes (NOK, OK, SURVEY, and LOCKED) and the amount of successful location measurements done compared to the amount of measurements required to reach the Locked state (86400).

Corrected problems in LMU Software 4.4

Corrected problems in LMU Software 4.4

The following problems have been corrected in this release:

2918ES07P LMU is feeding incorrect frame number

Description: LMU is feeding incorrect frame number compared to current GPS time reference Correction: Frame number initialisation functionality is changed so that frame number calculation is started correctly according to time from GPS time base message. New GPS time message is used also to get correct time for frame number calculation.

Note If any of the following synchronisation features are used, LMU Software 4.4 must be used:

BSS10069 Synchronised BSS BSS11073 Recovery for BSS and Site Synchronisation BSS20371 Synchronisation Recovery Improvement

Note When LMU SW 4.4 is in use, any equipment using older versions of LMU software within the same network must have the synchronisation features disabled.

Release Note

3672ES07P Occasionally 8048 alarm is cancelled even PLL has not reached locked state

Description: Occasionally 8048 loss of incoming signal alarm is cancelled even LMU is not able to feed clock signal. If the BTS_FN_OFFSET(OFF) command is sent when LMU PLL has not reached the locked state, then 8048 alarm cancel might be generated without any reason. If LMU is feeding clock signal and LMU will be reset, this may cause useless recovery attempt to LMU SYNCH. Correction: State machine of LMU clock output controlling is fixed so that FIX_LOST_ALARM is not cancelled if the FN_OFFSET(OFF) command is sent to LMU when PLL is not locked yet.

LMU Related BTS problems

This section lists existing LMU related problems found in BTS SW. For more information on the existing LMU related BTS SW problems, refer to the latest Generic Failure Reports of Nokia UltraSite EDGE and Nokia MetroSite EDGE Base Stations.

10140ES09P, 10335ES09P, 10333ES09P Alarm 8048 is not cancelled after LMU clock synchronisation has been restored (UltraSite, MetroSite)

Description: MetroSite or UltraSite BTS is synchronised by LMU (LMU is the synchronisation master). The LMU looses the GPS signal. Alarm 8048 is raised and BTS is forced to unsynchronised mode. The LMU restores the GPS connection but BTS does not return to synchronisation mode (LMU is the synchronisation master). Alarm 8048 is not cancelled. (This problem has been corrected in BTS SW UltraSite CX4.1 and MetroSite CXM4.1) Workaround: The synchronisation is recovered by a BCF reset or a short GPS signal break where a new 8048 alarm is raised and cancelled. System impact: Occasionally site will stay in unsynchronised mode even when LMU is able to feed clock signal.

Nokia Corporation

Note

Note

The coordinates displayed in the LMU manager GPS Status window may slightly differ from the coordinates entered manually because insignificant rounding errors may occur. LMU automatic clock output setting must be commissioned OFF when BSS synchronisation is used. The clock output will then be switched on by the BSC when required (the default setting is OFF).

All other LMU Software Release 4.0 documents are valid.
