    Urethritis is caused by the proliferation of gram-negative bacteria from the anus to the urethral opening, resulting in urethral inflammation. Risk factors include being female and unhygienic practices. This can decrease the urethral opening size, allowing urine backflow into the bladder and eventual kidney infection via the ureters if left untreated. Laboratory tests may show pus in the urine and abnormal white blood cell and neutrophil counts.

    Lab results: Increase WBC- 9.6 Increase neutrophils- .73 Decrease lymphocytes- .18
