Job Description
Reports to: Board of directors, steering or management committee Role: To take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the volunteer centre and to manage, promote, support and develop it. Key areas of work: Develop the centre as a viable resource for voluntary and community groups and volunteers, including implementing appropriate policies and practice guidelines Liaise with voluntary and community organisations and assess the number and type of volunteers they require Recruit and interview prospective volunteers for opportunities in the voluntary and community sector; assess their interests, skills and support needs and refer accordingly with due consideration to an organisations functions and requirements Keep appropriate and up-to-date records of vacancies and volunteers Develop and maximise volunteering opportunities for the area Ascertain barriers to volunteering for certain target groups and seek solutions Take responsibility for the centres own volunteers, keeping them informed of opportunities and volunteering issues, identifying appropriate training, support and resources for them Monitor satisfaction levels of individual volunteers and organisations with referrals Keep up to date with volunteering issues regionally and nationally Consult and network with community and voluntary groups, keeping them informed and supported with information on good practice with respect to all aspects of volunteering Provide training for local organisations in areas relevant to volunteering Set up a monitoring and evaluation system and use accordingly to provide information appropriate to the needs of funders, the centre and other agencies as required Prepare reports, appraisals and budgetary projections and reports Report to board

JOB DESCRIPTION AND JOB SPECIFICATION To recruit and support volunteers and place them in voluntary roles and work with organisations to ensure there is a variety of roles available for volunteers to participate in Key areas of work: Carry out a scoping exercise to determine best long-term volunteer infrastructure for the area Establish an outreach office specific to the area Promote voluntary work through a variety of methods to potential volunteers and recruit volunteers for tasks and roles Establish the needs of registered volunteers and provide them with as much support as is necessary to secure satisfactory placement Follow up placed volunteers Deliver outreaches and other volunteer recruitment programs Work with organisations to ensure that a wide range of volunteering opportunities are registered with the project In conjunction with the training officer, recruit organisations to participate in the centres training program, thereby increasing their capacity to recruit and retain volunteers.
