3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS: EYE CONTACT: Particles may scratch eye surfaces or cause mechanical irritation. SKIN CONTACT: Low order of acute toxicity. Frequent or prolonged contact may irritate the skin. INHALATION: Negligible hazard at normal temperatures (up to 38 deg C). Dust may be irritating to the eyes, nose, throat and lungs. INGESTION: Not considered to be a hazard. CHRONIC EFFECTS: Contains petroleum coke. Animal tests indicate that overexposure by inhalation may cause lung effects and/or damage. The relationship of these results to humans has not been fully established. Contains polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC's). Prolonged and/or repeated skin contact with certain PAC's has been shown to cause skin cancer. Prolonged and/or repeated exposures by inhalation of certain PAC's may also cause cancer of the lung and of other parts of the body. ______________________________________________________________________________

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE CONTACT: This material is an inert solid. If in eye, remove as one would any foreign object. SKIN CONTACT: Flush with large amounts of water. Use soap if available. Remove severely contaminated clothing (including shoes) and launder before reuse. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. INHALATION: If overcome by vapor, remove from exposure and call a physician immediately. If breathing is irregular or has stopped, start resuscitation, administer oxygen, if available.

INGESTION: If ingested, keep at rest and call a physician. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by a medical professional. ______________________________________________________________________________

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURE: NOT AVAILABLE FLAMMABLE OR EXPLOSIVE LIMITS (APPROXIMATE PERCENT BY VOLUME IN AIR) Flammable Limits: LEL: NA UEL: NA HANDLING PRECAUTIONS / GENERAL HAZARDS: Material will not burn. Toxic gases will form upon combustion. EXTINGUISHING MEDIA AND FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Use water spray to cool fire exposed surface and to protect personnel. Isolate "fuel supply" from fire. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Respiratory and eye protection required for fire fighting personnel. DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS UNDER FIRE CONDITIONS: Smoke, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and traces of oxides of sulphur "EMPTY" CONTAINER WARNING: "Empty" containers retain residue (liquid and/or vapor) and can be dangerous. DO NOT PRESSURIZE, CUT, WELD, BRAZE, SOLDER, DRILL, GRIND OR EXPOSE SUCH CONTAINERS TO HEAT, SPARKS, STATIC ELECTRICITY, OR OTHER SOURCES OF IGNITION; THEY MAY EXPLODE AND CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. Do not attempt to clean since residue is difficult to remove. "Empty" drums should be completely drained, properly bunged and promptly returned to a drum reconditioner. All other containers should be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner and in accordance with governmental regulations. For work on tanks refer to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, ANSI Z49.1, and other governmental and industrial references pertaining to cleaning, repairing, welding, or other contemplated operations. ______________________________________________________________________________

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

LAND SPILL: Keep public away. Prevent additional discharge of material, if possible to do so without hazard. Recover spilled material and place in suitable containers for recycle or disposal. Consult an expert on disposal of recovered material. Ensure disposal in

compliance with government requirements and ensure conformity to local disposal regulations. Notify the appropriate authorities immediately. Take all additional action necessary to prevent and remedy the adverse effects of the spill. WATER SPILL: Prevent additional discharge of material, if possible to do so without hazard. Attempt to contain floating material. Skim from surface. Consult an expert on disposal of recovered material. Ensure disposal in compliance with government requirements and ensure conformity to local disposal regulations. Notify the appropriate authorities immediately. Take all additional action necessary to prevent and remedy the adverse effects of the spill. CLEAN WATER ACT / OIL POLLUTION ACT This product may be classified as an oil under Section 311 of the Clean Water Act, and under the Oil Pollution Act. Discharges or spills into or leading to surface waters that cause a sheen must be reported to the National Response Center (1-800-424-8802) ______________________________________________________________________________

Handle and open containers with care. Store in a cool, well ventilated place away from incompatible materials. In keeping with good personal hygiene practices, wash hands thoroughly after handling the material. Do not breathe dust or fumes. Minimize dust generation during handling. Do not handle or store near an open flame, sources of heat, or sources of ignition. ______________________________________________________________________________

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

EXPOSURE CONTROLS: Local exhaust ventilation of equipment may be needed to control exposures to dusts and/or fumes below the recommended occupational exposure limits. PERSONAL PROTECTION: In open systems where contact is likely, wear safety goggles, chemicalresistant overalls, and chemically impervious gloves.

Where only incidental contact is likely, wear safety glasses with side shields. No other special precautions are necessary provided skin/eye cont is avoided. Where concentrations in air may exceed the occupational exposure limits given in Section 4 and where engineering, work practices or other means of exposure reduction are not adequate, approved respirators may be necessary to prevent overexposure by inhalation. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMIT: Exxon Recommends: For Delayed or Flexicoke generated coke, an occupational exposure limit of 2 mg/m3 (respirable) is recommended. For Flexicoke generated coke, 0.05 mg/m3 as (V2O5) is recommended. ______________________________________________________________________________
