Right Foundations: What The Bible Says About the Afterlife

https://paradoxparables.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/what-the-bible-says-about-the-afterlife/ Here is What The Bible Says About the Afterlife Genesis 2:7 The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. The Hebrew word for man (adam) is related to the Hebrew word for ground (adamah); it is also the name Adam (see Gen. 2:20). Since Mans body was originally made from the ground however your spirit and soul are a breath from above God created you for the breath of heaven to come inhabit you, John 1:12; 3:3. Genesis 3:19,23 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will returnSo the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. These verses are talking of living on this earth are going to work and die on this earth and that there physical body will become nothing, Genesis 5:5. Genesis 7:22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. Genesis 7:22 Tudo o que tinha flego de esprito de vida em suas narinas, tudo o que havia em terra seca, morreu. Genesis 35:18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died). Genesis 35:18 E aconteceu que, saindo-se-lhe a alma (porque morreu), chamoulhe Benoni; mas seu pai chamou-lhe Benjamim.

Numbers 16:30,33,36 But if the LORD brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt They went down alive (They went down alive into sheol) into the grave, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense. Dueteronomy 32:22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
Dueteronomy 32:22 Porque um fogo se acendeu na minha ira, e arder at ao mais profundo do inferno, e consumir a terra com a sua colheita, e abrasar os fundamentos dos montes. 1

1 Kings 17:21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this childs soul come into him again.
1 Kings 17:21 Ento se estendeu sobre o menino trs vezes, e clamou ao SENHOR, e disse: SENHOR meu Deus, rogo-te que a alma deste menino torne a entrar nele.

Job 21:26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them. When they die there bodies shall be covered with dust however the soul goes down alive into sheol.

Job 26:5-6 The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.
5 Os mortos tremem debaixo das guas, com os seus moradores. 6 O inferno est nu perante ele, e no h coberta para a perdio.

Death [1] is naked before God; Destruction *2+ lies uncovered. 1 Hebrew Sheol, 2 Hebrew Abaddon. In the deep pits of hell he dead are in deep anguish it is hard to be in anguish if you cease to exist. To be in anguish it is imperative to be a live in sheol, hell, death, the grave, the fiery pit, or abaddon whatever you feel like calling it. Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Acts 2:27,31 Psalms 55:15 Let death come deceitfully (sneakily/hastily) upon them; Let them go down alive to Sheol, For evil is in their dwelling, in their midst. Psalm 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Hell is a real place were you can go and you are conscious. David is saying if he makes his bed in hell God will be there. So where are you going to make you bed. You make you bed and will have to live in it for eternity. Psalms 146:4, His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. When one is dead there spirit goes on to heaven or hell were ever that soul has determined by their choices on this earth and all their earthly plans cease.

Proverbs 15:1 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? This scripture is saying hell is on Gods mind how much more the hearts of men who choose to follow after the way of hell. Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. The way of the wise is to heaven because they make the right choices that they may escape hell. Proverbs 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. Punishment is a good thing for correction will save your soul from hell. Proverbs 27:20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. As hell is continually trying to drag souls down into hell so mans fallen fleshly nature is continually grasping for sinful gratification which is the root of hell self gratification which brings separation from God. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun Whatsoever thy hand finds to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. When you die you are forgotten. There is no longer and earthly reward however there is a heavenly reward or punishment in hell. Ecclesiastes 12:7 The spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Isaiah 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. Isaiah 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. Hell greets fallen sinners to torture them. Isaiah 26:14 They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish. Isaiah 28:15,18 We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. In hell there is an overflowing of a scourging and it shall have adverse effects upon you.

Isaiah 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. Hells torment does not end. Ezekiel 31:16,17 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earthThey also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. Ezekiel 32:21, The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. Those in hell can speak and will bear their iniquity. Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Amos 9:2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down. Even though man prepares where he will rest his head for eternity God will take him were that person chooses to go. Habakkuk 2:5 Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people. Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Those who pierced Him are now dead so for them to see Jesus and mourn they have to be in hell. Matthew 8:12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Soul can not be killed by man it can be brought to ruin/despair in hell.

Matthew 11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. Hell is related to Sodom and Gomorrah many times in new testament writings which were both destroyed by fire. Matthew 22:13 Then the king told the attendants, Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 23:15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 24;14,30,51 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 25:46 Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. Mark 9:43-48 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Luke 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Luke 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. John 11:1-4, 11-14, 22-27,35-36, 38-43 KJV Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby After He (Jesus) had said this, He went on to tell them, Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up. His disciples replied, Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better. Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. So then he told them plainly, Lazarus is dead. But I know, that even now,

whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. John 5:25-29 I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come outthose who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned. John 11:43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, Lazarus, come out! The dead will hear Jesus and raise up out of the graves. Jesus mention hell fire allot i.e. Matthew 5:22,29,30; 10:28; 11:23; 16:18; 18:9; 23:15,33; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 10:1-5,15; 2:5; 6:23, etc Jesus constantly preached that His followers should beware of the danger of being cast into outer darkness were there is weeping and gnashing of teeth i.e. Matthew 8:12; 13:42,50; 22:13; 24:51; 25:30; Luke 13:28. Acts 7:59-60 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. 1 Corinthians 15:45 So it is written: The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Philippians 1:23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, (notice it says with a voice not that The LORD himself is an archangel. O Kurios = The LORD) and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: The dead are going to hear Jesus and meet Him in the air. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power. 2 Peter 2:4-12 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings; yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.

2 Peter 2:7 These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. Jude 1:6,7 and the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own homethese he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. Sodom is a representation of the eternal fire and torment of all sinners who choose to separate themselves from God. Revelations 1:7 Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. Every eye will see Jesus those who pierced him who are dead and those who are alive will see Jesus. Revelations 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Revelations 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Revelations 20:13,14 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Death and hell are two separate things when you die you then go to hell. Your physical body dies and your soul is headed to hell both will turn into the lake of fire which burns forever. Revelation 6:9,10 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood? Revelation 7:9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. Revelation 19:1,20 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.

Revelation 21:8-9,19 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liarstheir place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death. One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the LambThe foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald.

It is impossible that anything so natural, so necessary, and so universal as death should ever have been designed by Providence as an evil to mankind. Jonathan Swift
