David is saying if he makes his bed in hell God will be there. So where are you going to make you bed. You make you bed and will have to live in it for eternity. When one is dead there spirit goes on to heaven or hell were ever that soul has determined by their choices on this earth and all their earthly plans cease.

Your physical body dies and your soul is headed to hell both will turn into the lake of fire which burns forever.
