Application Kindergartners learn mouse control and how to use basic tools in a Paint program. They will use the toolbar to create a picture in a Paint program. They will write their name with the paint brush, draw a picture with the paint brush and fill in the shapes with the paint bucket. As they continue with lessons, they will explore the use of the spray can and different line thicknesses, and draw shapes with the oval and rectangle tools.

Kindergartners practice following directions while using Internet websites to support and practice computer skills. Students will learn to access the internet and use the toolbar to locate specific sites and maneuver through websites. Uptoten.com and starfall.com are two sites used to practice classroom and computer skills.

Kindergartners will assist the teacher in completing a spreadsheet by taking part in a class survey and watching as the information is tallied and charted on a spreadsheet. Students will participate in a class survey while the teacher uses Microsoft Excel to tally and chart the information collected.

Kindergartners will explore the keyboard using a typing program. Students will use the typing program KidKeys to explore letter placement on the keyboard. They will be asked to locate specific letters (i.e. their name) and to, play music using the keyboard keys.
