the National League for Democracy. Myo Min Zaw

sentenced to 38 years imprisonment, now increased
to 52 years, solely for the non-violent expression
of his beliefs. He has suffered from gastric pain

MA KHIN KHIN LEH

Ma Khin Khin Leh is a prisoner of conscience. The school teacher and mother was
imprisoned at the age of 33 after the authorities could not locate her politically-active
husband who was planning a peaceful political march. Ma Khin Khin Leh was given
a life sentence in 1999 under vaguely-worded security legislation. Even by the harsh
standards of ‘justice’ used by Myanmar's military government, her life sentence is
extreme. She has suffered from an unspecified lung problem, rheumatoid arthritis and
dysentry in prison. Amnesty International is very concerned for her safety and wellbeing.
