Helpful Hints and Guidelines for Nursery and Youth Programs
Nursery Hours: Monday - Saturday 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Reservations: Reservations are required for any child that is under one year old or requires a considerable amount of care. Reservations can be made by contacting the nursery at 223-5999 Ext. 216. The reservation process allows us to ensure quality care for your child. Please remember not only to call us with reservation times, but also when you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. We reserve the right to turn an infant away if a reservation has not been made and we do not have enough staff to accommodate the child at time of arrival. Sign-In Procedure: If you are new to our facility, please ask our nursery staff to show you how to use the sign-in sheet. In order for us to accurately account for the children in our care, be sure to include all information requested including first and last name, account number, and a legible parent name. Information concerning your whereabouts in the club can also assist us in quickly handling any emergency related situation. If you will be wearing headphones, please carry a cell phone and leave your number on the sign in sheet. If someone else will be picking up your child, please be sure to let staff know and make a note on the sign-in sheet. After signing in, we will give you and your child stickers with coordinating numbers. This allows us to maintain security and determine necessary information about you and your child as needed. We appreciate your assistance in helping us to ensure your childs safety. Workout Time/Late Charges: The nursery and youth activity center allow for a two-hour time limit with an additional third hour if the child has spent at least 20 minutes checked out of the nursery. A parent is considered late once the two hour time limit has been reached and a grace period of 10 minutes is exceeded. At this time, a late charge of $1.00 for every minute will apply. Medication: Prairie Life staff is not authorized to dispense medications. Children with specific allergies and allergy related medications should be reported to nursery staff and specific instructions shared with the nursery director. 18

Y O UTH P ROGR AMS

Contacting Parents: We know and understand that your workout time is valuable to you; however, there are times in which we need to notify or speak to parents about various topics. Please be sure we can read your name on the sign-in sheet, have your picture on file at the front desk, and let us know where you might be. In trying to reach parents, we will first page you on the intercom and then we will try to locate you. Participating in Classes: Children are encouraged to participate in all of the activities offered by the Prairie Life Nursery Staffers. However, we do not force children into an activity that they seem uneasy or uncomfortable with. Rest assure, we ask, announce, and follow up in order to have as many participants as possible. Snacks: We have opted to be a snack free environment. We understand that some children rely on food as part of a routine; however, we have a large number of children with severe allergies, a wide variety of age ranges in our care, and a large number of children in our care at a given time. We will allow sippy cups (if labeled), but please refrain from bringing any food into the nursery. We do not allow any product that contains peanuts or peanut oils in the Nursery area. Please refrain from bringing any peanut product into the Nursery, even if it is contained in a diaper bag. Remaining on Premises: It is important to note that state childcare codes require parents to remain on the premises while their children are under nursery/youth activity center care. The only exception to this is if the child is attending a paid camp or programs. Please see nursery staff if any additional questions arise. Personal Belongings: Please label all of your childs belongings. This includes diaper bags, bottles, cups, pacifiers, and blankets. We want to be certain children are being comforted with the appropriate items. We ask that you leave all toys and other unnecessary items at home as we are not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen items. Illness: Please keep children home at least 24 hours following a fever, the start of antibiotics, vomiting, diarrhea, vaccinations or general lethargy. If a child has noticeable signs of illness, a request is made to keep children at home or to remove children from the nursery until signs have passed. Please be courteous to fellow parents, members, and staff. 19

Y O UTH P ROGR AMS

Dear Mom and Dad, As the parents of a young child, you know the importance of sticking to a routine and we love being a part of your daily schedule. To assist us in creating a comfortable and predictable environment, we have developed daily classes that allow you to know what is happening within our childcare department everyday. Check out our daily schedule and find out how easy it is to incorporate us into your day, giving your child valuable learning opportunities and starting their day, as well as their lives, on a healthy note. We understand that some children rely on food as part of a routine, however we have a large number of children with severe allergies, a wide variety of age ranges in our care, and a large number of children in our care at a given time. While we understand the convenience of having snack, we will no longer be allowing food in the nursery. Infants will be allowed to have bottles and we will continue to allow sippy cups (if labeled). You are more than welcome to take your children to the lobby for a snack before or after nursery time. We thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Nursery/Youth Programs Staff

Advanced After School Fitness Program
The After School Fitness Program is a program designed to help kids 8-14 adopt healthier lifestyles. This program is different from other child activity options available locally because it:

Provides a non-competitive option for being active: Some children are not comfortable with team or performance-oriented activities. The activities in this program are instructive and group-oriented but they provide a non-judgmental, stress-free workout for children of all abilities. Offers parents flexibility: Children can attend sessions as frequently as they wish on a drop-in basis for a nominal fee. We also offer a punch card option. Offers an easy, accessible option for structured activity: No special equipment, attire, or long-term commitments required. Facilitates awareness, education, and experience for many different fitness options. Because they get to try so many different fitness options, children can have fun identifying activities that they really enjoy. Offers a new topic for discussion each week, focusing on goal setting, nutrition, hygiene, stretching, journaling, etc. Ages 8-14 Tuesday and Thursday 4:30 p.m.-5:15 p.m.
(Starting September 6th)

Drop-ins: $3.00 per day 8 day punch card: $20.00

*Non-Members are welcome at the same rate plus the purchase of a guest pass.
