*AIM* The Primary School Mathematics Curriculum aims to build pupils understanding of number concepts and their basic skills in computation that they can apply in their daily routines effectively and responsibly in keeping with the aspirations of a developed society and nation, and at the same time to use this knowledge to further studies.

*OBJECTIVES* The Primary School Mathematics Curriculum will enable pupils to 1. Know and understand the concepts, definition, rules and principles related to numbers, operations, space and measures and data representation 2. Master the basic operations of mathematics : addition, subtraction, multiplication, division 3. Master the skills of combined operations 4. Master basic mathematical skills: - Making estimates and approximates - Measuring - Handling data - Representing information in the form of graph and charts 5. Use mathematical skills and knowledge to solve problems in everyday life effectively and responsibly 6. Use the language of mathematics correctly 7. Use suitable technology in concept building, acquiring mathematical skills and solving problems 8. Apply the knowledge of mathematics systematically, heuristically, accurately and carefully 9. Participate in activities related to mathematics 10. Appreciate the importance and beauty of mathematics

Able to determine the place value of digits in whole numbers, fractions and decimals 2. Able to identify lines of symmetry in 2-D shapes 3. Able to write whole numbers, fractions and decimals 4. Able to use ordinal numbers in different contexts 5. Able to perform basic operations for whole numbers, fractions and decimals 6. Able to perform mixed operations for whole numbers, fractions and decimals using the rules 7. Able to solve simple problems involving numbers, money, time, length, mass and volume in real life situations and apply it to daily life 8. Able to solve simple problems involving perimeters and area of 2-D shapes, and volume of 3-D shapes in real life situations and apply it to daily life 9. Able to use mixed operations to solve routine problems 10. Able to tell when special events in Malaysia are celebrated 11. Able to make models using 3-D shapes 12. Able to make designs using 2-D shapes 13. Able to solve a given problem by organizing and interpreting numerical data 14. Able to construct pictograph, bar graph to illustrate given information 15. Able to explain the consequences based on the results obtain through problem solving

Able to use basic operations to solve simple problems in real life situations involving numbers, money, time, length, mass and volume 13. Able to differentiate between the hour hand and the minute hand on the clock face 14. Able to sort 3-D shapes (solid shapes) 15. Able to sort 2-D shapes 16. Able to find areas and perimeters of 2-D shape
