Division/Department: Prevention: MISTER Program Open Period: Position: Time: Monday, September 12 through Monday, September 26 Hourly; part-time This position has a set schedule of 28 hours per week, including 4 hours each Saturday, and because of the hours the testing center is open and the staff coverage needed, these days and hours are non-negotiable. The position schedule is as follows: Mondays Wednesdays Thursdays Saturdays Tuesday/Friday/Sunday Number of Openings: Salary: Preferred Start Date: Travel Required: Supervisory Position: Work Location: Position Description SUMMARY: The Prevention Specialist: CTR Counselor/Office Administrator provides education, risk reduction activities and HIV testing to the community accessing Positive Impacts Counseling, Testing and Referral Program at the MISTER Community Center, primarily gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (MSM). In addition, the Prevention Specialist provides regularly scheduled front desk rotation coverage to greet guests, enroll clients into service, and assist with administrative duties such as data entry, chart assembly and filing, and provide other administrative assistance as required by the Director in the department. DUTIES: Provide HIV pre/post test counseling, and conduct confidential and anonymous HIV tests using rapid OraQuick/OraSure technology, and administer a risk assessment questionnaire to clients. Disseminate HIV prevention and risk reduction educational materials. Screen individuals for eligibility into additional prevention programs. Assess and screen clients for other STDs such as gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Refer clients to appropriate resources, including medical care for HIV-positive clients. Maintain complete and timely written client records. Serve as anchor staff for HIV testing on Saturdays. Ability and interest in working a set schedule each week that will include working three 8-hour days each week and 4 hours every Saturday. Provide front-office administrative support through the following duties and responsibilities: maintain office calendar to coordinate work flow; maintain confidentiality standards for staff and clients; interact with clients and other visitors; answer telephone and transfer calls appropriately; distribute incoming mail; prepare responses to correspondence containing routine inquiries; general clerical duties such as copying and faxing; coordinate and maintain records; may assist with conducting research, compiling data, and creating presentations; attend all 1 Competitive hourly wage Monday, October 3, 2011 No No Metro Atlanta/Midtown 10 AM to 6 PM 11 AM to 7 PM 11 AM to 7 PM 10 AM to 2 PM Off 8 hours 8 hours 8 hours 4 hours 28 hours total

required staff meetings; supervise volunteers working at the Center; and assist with special events such as Gay Pride events. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of HIV/AIDS and its impact on the gay and bisexual community in metro Atlanta, as well as a basic knowledge of STDs (specifically gonorrhea, Chlamydia and syphilis), how they are transmitted and treated. Ability to develop rapport and positive relationships with at-risk and hard-to-reach populations. Ability to make decisions according to defined protocols and sometimes under high-pressure situations. Ability to work independently in a diverse environment. Cultural competence in client and community values and behaviors. Minimum one year experience working within the gay and bisexual community providing prevention, outreach and other risk reduction supportive services. Exceptionally high level of maturity and professionalism. Ability to take direction, follow protocols and be open to professional guidance. Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a team player PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Not Required): Formal training with certificate in HIV pre/post counseling and HIV testing (on-the-job training and formal CTR training is available to qualified candidates, and will be required of those who do not have formal CTR training) Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
