WHO WE ARE Three College of Liberal Arts alumnae founded the Institute of Hope to fight the social injustices of poverty, prejudice, and abuse. Our mission is to carry on this work by promoting awareness of state and national issues through educational programming, engaging members of our collegiate community in service opportunities, and offering flexible financial aid. OUR FOUNDERS Beverly Coon, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, 2005 Tina Dobson, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, 2005 Laura Mitchell, Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, 2005 SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS Tuition and Fee Waiver Scholarship Emergency Fund for Textbooks Travel and Research Awards OUR EVENTS September 21st A screening of the film Winters Bone and faculty panel discussion October 10th through the 13th Poverty Awareness Week Additionally, on October 10th we will be having a book group discussion over Dr. Jennifer Shermans work. Space is limited, so the sign up sheet is posted on the door of LA201B October 26th Author Jennifer Sherman will visit the campus and lead a discussion of her book Those Who Work, Work, Those Who Dont: Poverty, Mortality, and Family in Rural America
