Statement of Qualifications and Experience Go Downtown Salem is a non-profit organization with a nine member board, six of which are

e property owners or the representative of a property owner. In addition, eight of the nine board members are business owners in the downtown economic improvement district. Go Downtown Salem administered the EID for Downtown Salem for three years. In this capacity Go Downtown: 1. Planned and managed improvement activities. o o We coordinated, placed, and maintained flower baskets. We scheduled, contracted for, and supervised streetscape cleaning.

2. Conducted activities in support of downtown retail and commercial business. This includes 30+ city wide events including First Wednesdays and Summer in The City. 3. Marketed and promoted businesses, public events, and other activities occurring in the EID o o o Developed a Downtown Shopping & Dining Guide. Leveraged ad buys with the Statesman Journal and Salem Monthly. Developed an ad campaign through Comcast that highlighted Downtown Salem and individual businesses.

4. Provided and maintained decorations, flowers, and banners. 5. Cleaned trash cans, planters, tree wells, benches, and light standards. 6. Cleaned and maintained the off-street public spaces within the EID. 7. Hosted Downtown Greeters which is a monthly opportunity for downtown businesses to come connect, learn about each other and find new ways to collaborate. 8. Developed a downtown shopping guide. 9. Provided regular communications, via e-mail, website updates, face-to-face meetings and telephone, to downtown stakeholders alerting them to opportunities, meetings, events, and hazards. 10. Acted as a conduit to prevent misunderstanding between City Staff and downtown stakeholders.

Go Downtown Salem has an experienced staff that has managed the operations of an EID, developed good working relationships with elected officials and staff at the city and county level, and proven to be peacemakers. Go Downtown Salem has managed finances in excess of $300,000 annually for the last three years. These finances come from a variety of sources and we have maintained a detailed accounting. Besides an internal treasurer, Go Downtown Salem utilizes the services of an outside CPA firm to provide bookkeeping and accounting services. Go Downtown Salem conducts annual elections for its Board of Directors, with three of the nine positions alternately coming up for election. The elections provide regular opportunities for participation by the constituency in selection of leadership and assure annual opportunities to supplement and expand the diversity of representation currently present on the Go Downtown Board of Directors. Adopted the Mainstreet model to leverage the proven success of its structure to use community resources and diverse representation to advance and invigorate down town districts.
