Zamil Industrial Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial) is a leading manufacturing and fabrication group that provides products, engineering systems and services for the construction industry. Its product portfolio includes pre-engineered steel buildings (PEB), structural steel products, air conditioning systems, air cooled heat exchangers, district cooling and utility services, process equipment, transmission and telecom towers, open web joists and steel decks, process furnaces products, aerated and precast concrete products, architectural glass processing, fiberglass insulation and engineered plastic foams solutions.

The company sells its products in more than 90 countries with manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Austria, India, Vietnam and Italy. Zamil Industrial employs more than 10,000 people in 55 countries and derives 27% of its revenues from outside Saudi Arabia. For the year ended 31 December 2009, Zamil Industrial posted turnover of SAR 4.204 billion/USD 1.121 billion, a decline of 7.6% over 2008, with net profit, after Zakat contribution, of SAR 230.2 million/USD 61.4 million. Post Zakat Earnings Per Share during 2009 grew to SAR 5.11/USD 1.36 from SAR 5/USD 1.33 representing 2.3 percent growth. Shareholders equity grew by 16.3% to SAR 1.2 billion/USD 319 million. Export sales accounted for SAR 1.1 billion/USD 296.4 million.

Quality Assurance

Zamil Steel places great emphasis on delivery of high quality products to its customers. Design and manufacturing facilities follow ISO 9001:2000 procedures. All products manufactured must pass stringent quality testing procedures, a standard inspection and testing plan is followed for all jobs. Quality Assurance Quality is a continuous process at Zamil Steel - where organization-wide action is taken to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the engineering process. This means that we continuously concentrate on improving our own performance to ensure that you -the client - benefit. Our aim is to meet your expectations every time. We take a proactive stance towards quality moving beyond Quality Control to provide Quality Assurance, so you can be confident that your requirements will be met with predictable quality - consistently. Our stringent process ensures that high quality standards are reflected as results in your business, guaranteeing your satisfaction every time. Quality Control QC inspection starts with checking of raw materials for compliance with specifications. The product is inspected at all stages of fabrication for quality of welding and dimensional tolerances. Surface preparation and coatings are inspected. All inspection records are retained on file for future reference. Quality Planning We are committed to process adherence through process improvement plans. This includes allocating human resources and funds for Products Research and Development, who work to implement good practices and maintain high standards in every project. Validation and Verification Roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, reviews and audits are conducted regularly to identify non-conformance and verify compliance.

Control of Non-conformance This involves identifying and recording non-conformance, performing detailed analysis and subsequent resolution of any non-conformances. Corrective and Preventive Action When internal Quality Audits result in non-conformances, corrective action is triggered through corrective and preventive action plans. The effectiveness of all such plans are closely monitored. Customer complaints are recorded and detailed analysis is carried out. Corrective action is implemented with a view towards continual improvement. Review and Audit of Assurances Zamil Steel's Management reviews and audits all Quality Assurance activities.

The creation of a performance-minded culture We consider performance management and development planning as shared responsibilities of all members of the Zamil Industrial family. Performance shall be the driver for innovation and growth; the system of merits and rewards to be distributed to employees shall therefore be

anchored on performance. The Company's Performance Evaluation and Development Plan (PEDP) is a results-based performance management system, reflective of business requirements vis--vis employee contributions. While it increases involvement of line supervisors and managers in human resource management issues such as training, promotions, merit/rewards and transfer of employees, it shall also provide information on individual progress and development of each employee, thus generating an objective basis for rewards and staffing issues. A performance-minded culture is not only in keeping with our Core Values but also challenges our entire Company to achieve outstanding results. top Setting of Performance Indicators During the beginning of the appraisal period, managers and employees discuss the Key Results Areas (KRAs) as defined from the employees Job Description, and establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), or the performance criteria for each KRA. From this process, targets and expected behavior shall be defined. KPIs can be set through the following parameters:

At each stage of the process, the manager shall document his observations and periodically discuss performance based on KPIs with each of the employees under his supervision. Each employee should be responsible in communicating with his manager so that performance management becomes a dynamic process.

top Performance Appraisal The performance appraisal covers the entire calendar year. All employees regardless of length or type of contract shall be covered. The minimum length of service of the employee to be eligible for the PEDP is six months at the time of the appraisal period. The performance appraisal discussion has the following objectives:

Motivate employees to seek the highest levels of performance within their abilities Produce valid and consistent appraisals for Management's use in personnel administration Reinforce the role of the supervisor/manager in the development of people.

Based on the scoring system, a manager will be able to rate whether the employee Consistently exceeds, Meets and Exceeds, Successfully Meets, Meets Some, or Falls Below expectations. top Developmental Plan Based on the performance of the employee and potential growth areas identified by his manager, an employee may receive additional training or exposure as part of the program mapped out for his development. This is particularly important in creating a career path for certain employees in key positions. top Promotions Zamil Industrial believes in "promoting from within" in order to provide career growth for its employees while meeting its human resource requirements.
